Library of Things Spotlight:

Roku Streaming Devices

The Kirkwood Public Library has many items you can borrow from books to movies, magazines to music. We also loan out a variety of non-traditional library items. We refer to these items as the Library of Things. Each month, we will be highlighting parts of this collection.

Featured in June are our new collection of Roku Express 4k+ devices featuring a variety of streaming services. Have you ever found yourself wanting to try a streaming service before signing up for one yourself? Or perhaps, you want to watch Ted Lasso without subscribing to Apple TV+. Well now, KPL has a variety of items you can checkout to help.

Why not repair your phone instead of buying a new one. Test the air quality of your home, or measure your electricity usage. Need to label that circuit breaker box? I know I did, and our circuit breaker locator did just the trick. Drop that wedding ring down the drain? Try our endoscope to locate and fish it out! Does that article of clothing have a tear? Our sewing machine has more stitch patterns that you could possible want.

Our Roku devices each contain one of the following premium streaming services. They also all have a variety of free streaming services preloaded onto them.

  • Acorn TV
  • Apple TV+
  • BET+
  • Crunchyroll
  • Discovery+
  • Max
  • Paramont+
  • Peacock TV
  • Prime Video

View our entire collection of Roku streaming devices here. View our entire Library of Things collection here. And while our selection is not comprehensive, we welcome suggestions for new additions to the collection. You can use the contact forms on our website to make a suggestion to the Technology dept.

Pardon Our Dust

The library's HVAC project is complete!

Now our front yard will soon be under construction in preparation for our new outside garden. We will remain fully open the entire construction process. And if you haven’t yet purchased a paver there is still time!

During this time, we ask for your patience in order that we may continue providing the best library service to you!

Library Closings

Your Kirkwood Public Library will be closed on Sunday, June 16th in honor of Father's Day. The library will also be closed on Wednesday, June 19th in honor of Juneteenth.

Our online catalog is available 24/7. eBooks, audiobooks, music and movies are always available for checkout through OverDrive/Libby, Hoopla and Kanopy.

Books & Beyond

Finding good quality merchandise at a reasonable price can be quite challenging these days. Surprisingly, Books & Beyond does exactly that! Offered is a wide variety of unique items at prices that won’t break the bank. There are many gifts for Father’s Day that are priced just right. Stop by to see what is available.

All proceeds benefit the library and the Hot Reads program.

Story Walk

Finding a safe, fun and educational activity that your whole family will enjoy may feel like a task. Leave it to the library, we've got the perfect idea!

Head over to Kirkwood Park to take a walk around Walker Lake where you can follow our Story Walk. A librarian has handpicked the book that you follow page by page around the lake until you've enjoyed a whole story and some exercise. Look for this story in June: Rafa Counts on Papa by Joe Cepeda.

And be sure to check out our new Story Walk in the front lawn of the Kirkwood YMCA. Look for this story in June: Beatrice was a Tree by Joyce Hesselberth.

Thank You Donors!
