Library of Things Spotlight:

Adapters

The Kirkwood Public Library has many items you can borrow from books to movies, magazines to music. We also loan out a variety of non-traditional library items. We refer to these items as the Library of Things. Each month, we will be highlighting parts of this collection.

Up for March are our collection of adapters. As long as technology have been available there have been different ways of connecting things together. Device ports have shrunk over the years which often requires the need for some kind of adapter to make one thing fit with another.

On some occasions, we only need said adapter once. Not to mention the fact that adapters and specialty cables are not easily found in stores. Well, why spend time and money online for something you may only need once? Well, stop by KPL and check out our collection of adapters. We have adapters for:

  • HDMI to Mini/Micro HDMI
  • VGA to HDMI
  • SD Card Readers
  • External DVD / 3.5" Floppy Disk Drives
  • Various Apple adapters

View our entire collection of adapters here. And while our selection of adapters is not comprehensive, we welcome suggestions for new additions to the collection. You can use the contact forms on our website to make a suggestion to the Technology dept.

Pardon Our Dust

Library is currently replacing its HVAC system.

This project will occur over the next few months. As such, there will be times when certain areas of the library may become inaccessible and some services may differ from the norm. For example, the library meeting room and computers lab are unavailable for public use for the duration of this project.

During this time, we ask for your patience in order that we may continue providing the best library service to you!

Library Closings

Your Kirkwood Public Library will be closed on Sunday, March 31 in honor of

Easter.

Our online catalog is available 24/7. eBooks, audiobooks, music and movies are always available for checkout through

OverDriveHoopla and

Kanopy.

Books & Beyond

We have engaging books that cater to everyone’s interests. Graphic books are part of our offerings. This type of book is in a comic format that resembles a novel in length. Some are nonfiction, while many are superhero stories. Literature experts include this format as "real" reading that improves reading skills.

All proceeds benefit the Hot Reads program and the library.

Story Walk

Finding a safe, fun and educational activity that your whole family will enjoy may feel like a task. Leave it to the library, we've got the perfect idea!

Head over to Kirkwood Park to take a walk around Walker Lake where you can follow our Story Walk. A librarian has handpicked the book that you follow page by page around the lake until you've enjoyed a whole story and some exercise. Look for this story in March: He Came with the Couch by David Slonim.

Thank You Donors!
