Music in the Library
Presents: Roy St. John
Kirkwood Public Library is proud to present singer/songwriter Roy St. John on Sunday, June 4th at 2pm on the main floor of the library in the bay window area.
Roy St. John began playing folk clubs in England in the 1960s. After a few years with the River Bottom Band, he went electric and became a well-known and highly respected leader of a pub-rock band in London. Singles and albums on Virgin and Ace Records followed, featuring Roy's singing and songwriting, and garnering British reviews of enviable comparisons with Randy Newman, Robbie Robertson, and John Hiatt. Roy now fronts Rocky & the Wranglers playing Blues, R&B, Rock n Roll, and Americana in and around St. Louis.
Roy left England in the late 80s and was soon hosting and producing a daily morning radio show in St. Louis. His new albums are on Roller Coaster Records - Rocky & the Wranglers, named for his St. Louis band, and Rocky II include music from Roy and the Wranglers as well as hard-to-find gems from Roy's recording past. He and accompanist John Webb have played together since the early 1980s.
