Music in the Library

Fall Series

Music in the Library is proud to host top-tier local musicians this fall!

On Sunday, October 22nd at 2PM, Chris Shepherd's smooth vocals invoke depth and volume with meaning, driving home blues messages with a soulful twist . In contrast, his gritty old school guitar speaks the straight-forward language of St. Louis's musical heritage. Chris is known for writing original blues, soul, rock, and blues-flavored gospel songs. Chris belongs to a beloved blues community in St. Louis whose goal is to share the blues heritage worldwide.

On Sunday, November 19th at 2PM, St. Louis Classical Guitar is a non-profit arts agency whose mission is to promote positive impact through classical guitar performance and education. Founded in 1963 by students of George C. Krick, SLCG is the third oldest organization in the nation centered around classical guitar. Now in 2023, our 60th anniversary year, SLCG seeks to serve the St. Louis community through innovative, high-quality, and relevant programming.

Join us for a memorable afternoon!

Books & Beyond

Much of Kirkwood’s history revolves around the railroad and our station…. and now is your opportunity to own a piece of Kirkwood. Donated by a library patron, this lovely framed and matted print of the Kirkwood Train Station is up for sale. Make an offer ($50 minimum) and place it in the box in the lobby or take it to Books & Beyond, the library gift shop. The highest offer will win. In case of a duplicate offer, the earliest entry will win. The deadline for offers is November 18th. The drawing will take place on November 19th and the winner will be notified.

In the meantime, visit Books & Beyond for a variety of colorful, seasonal items that can spice up your décor. They make perfect gifts as well!

As always, proceeds benefit the Kirkwood Public Library.

Story Walk

Finding a safe, fun and educational activity that your whole family will enjoy may feel like a task. Leave it to the library, we've got the perfect idea!

Head over to Kirkwood Park to take a walk around Walker Lake where you can follow our Story Walk. A librarian has handpicked the book that you follow page by page around the lake until you've enjoyed a whole story and some exercise. Look for a new story in mid-October: Zombies Don't Eat Veggies by Megan and Jorge Lacera
