CrossWalk Center: Better Together Through Mentorship
CrossWalk Center, a 2025 Houston Project Grant Recipient, walks alongside men and women returning home from prison as they rediscover their true identity, experience restoration, and step into a purposeful, abundant life. Through in-prison discipleship, reentry support, housing, and community, they believe transformation happens best in relationship.
One of the most powerful expressions of this is mentorship. Mentorship is not about having all the answers; it’s about showing up, walking alongside someone, and reflecting God’s grace and wisdom in real life. Interested in being a mentor? Email volunteer@crosswalkcenter.org.

The pioneering dream of St. Luke’s J. Dean Robinson, to bring together churches to help Houstonians in need, launched CCSC in 1980. St. Luke’s congregation’s steadfast support has helped make that dream a reality ever since.
If you are a member of CCSC’s Legacy Society, a group of donors leaving a personal legacy by making a gift to CCSC in their will, or you want to learn about the Society, join President & CEO Michelle Shonbeck for coffee and lite bites, 10:30-11:30 a.m., Feb. 4, at the J. Dean Robinson Building, 3434 Branard St.
RSVP to Allison Hume by Feb. 3. Learn more here.
| | Telling our Outreach Stories | | Thank you to everyone who donated snack bag items in January. We collected enough items to fill 1,000 snack bags! These bags will be distributed to visitors coming to our church seeking assistance. A snack bag is a small gesture that allows us to share tangible help and hope while guiding them to resources provided by our Community Partners. | |

RESOURCE FAIR SUCCESS
The Winter Resource Fair during Wednesday Night Fellowship (WNF) on January 14th was a wonderful success, bringing together 17 dedicated community partners who offered valuable support and services. Their presence helped connect our Gethsemane community with important resources, strengthening our network of care and collaboration. One partner shared,
“It was inspiring to see so many neighbors come together and take steps toward the support they deserve—we were honored to be part of it.”
We are grateful for their commitment and the positive impact they made on this meaningful evening. We could not do the work that God has called us to do without them.
Sign up to serve at a future WNF here.

The Garden flourished in 2025, welcoming approximately 14,000 visitors, and they anticipate 2026 being even more impactful. They kicked off the new year by hosting a 2026 Vision Boards Workshop, bringing members together to pause, reflect, and share their personal goals while creating visual representations of their aspirations.
One member recently shared, The Garden is "not just a spot for teens to hang out; it’s a place where we can collectively be ourselves.”
This experience sets the tone for a year rooted in intentionality, while reinforcing The Garden’s commitment to supporting youth as they explore the fundamental guiding questions:
Who am I? What do I believe in?
Where am I going? How do I get there?

Happy Birthday to PM Pals!
PM Pals celebrates its 21st birthday this month! Over the years, this ministry of St. Luke's has become a beacon of hope and support for families throughout our community navigating the challenges of raising children with special needs.
How can you help?
No prior experience is necessary! Bevin and her team will provide training and shadowing experiences. Susie Mitchem, a 17-year volunteer said, "I think the best thing about PM Pals volunteering is it brings back play into my life. These kids enjoy the “now” and they love the one on one play".
If you would like to volunteer, donate, and/or know a family that would be interested in registering their children, contact Bevin Barrett at 713-402-5053 or pmpals@stlukesmethodist.org. Donate here.
