OSHA Updates Outreach Training Program for 2018

 

Happy New Year to all our Outreach Trainers. We hope you had a wonderful holiday with friends and families and feel energized for a fun and productive 2018.

 

We started off 2018 with news of updates to the Outreach Training Program (see Outreach Training Program Changes 2018). Although they don't take effect until April 1, 2018, you may start implementing these changes now.

 

One of the most important changes is that the Introduction to OSHA module of any 10- or 30-hour class in Construction, Maritime and General Industry has been reduced from 2 hours to 1 hour. Click on this Outreach Trainer Guide link to access the updated curriculum for the 1-hour presentation. The new guide as well as handouts, FAQs and other resources are available on OSHA's Outreach Training Program webpage.

 

Outreach Trainer Road Show

 

To help all of our Outreach Trainers with these updates and other topics, the OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District staff is rolling out an "Outreach Trainer Road Show." We plan to come to every location where we offer training over the next few months. The presentation will be short, free and very relevant.

OSHA Updates Outreach Training Program Landing Page

 

OSHA has updated its Outreach Training Program landing page, which now features up to date information and resources for trainers and workers, including a program overview, program requirements by industry, how to find an Outreach Trainer, FAQs and more.

The OSHA Outreach Training Program provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. The program also provides information regarding workers' rights, employer responsibilities and how to file a complaint.
