Welcome Kerrigan Jensen to the CoANS Team

Kerrigan Jensen is a senior Agricultural Media & Communication major from Santa Margarita, California. Growing up, she was heavily involved in youth activities and community service projects. Jensen attended Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo and obtained her associate’s degree in Agriculture Plant Science. She then transferred to West Texas A&M University in Aug. of 2023, and will graduate Dec. of 2025. During her time at WTAMU, Jensen has been involved in Sigma Alpha, Ag Ambassadors and Soils Judging, as well as working as a reporter for The Prairie News.

 

Jensen is replacing Paige Brandon, who is transitioning to a graduate assistant position with the WT Rodeo Team. She will take over all aspects of the Buff Brief. 

2025 Youth World's Greatest Horseman

Congratulations to WT Ranch Horse Team member, Parker Ralston, sophomore Agribusiness major, for earning the title of 2025 Youth World's Greatest Horseman in Fort Worth during the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Celebration of Champions!


Parker and "Marty" attained a composite score of 800 during 4 great runs. Congratulations to this team for this accomplishment!

Southern Agricultural Economics Association

Drs. Lal Almas, Bridget Guerrero, Bailey Samper and Qi Kang, along with several students, recently traveled to Irving, TX for the Southern Agricultural Economics Association (SAEA) Annual Conference.


Undergraduate students Emma Bohnen, Kennedy Frank, Skyla Harr, Oaklynn Recker, Patricia Cantu, Montana Goodman, Zebadiah Laca and Raegan Hill competed in the SAEA quiz bowl competition.


Additionally, graduate students Braeland Booth and Charlotte Williams presented on several topics.

Champion College Reined Cow Horse Judging Team

WT's Horse Judging Team also attended the NRCHA Celebration of Champions in Fort Worth on Feb. 27-28, returning home as the Champion College Reined Cow Horse Judging Team.

Odessa College Wrangler Rodeo Results

The WT Rodeo Team traveled to the Odessa College Wrangler Rodeo, on Feb. 27- March 1.


Two students advanced to the short-go rounds for their respective events.

Individual Results

  • Marquel Moser: Finished 8th in the average in barrel racing
  • Sydney Bracher: Placed 5th in the average in breakaway


The Team's next competition is the Ranger College Rodeo on March 27-29, where they will represent WT in Sweetwater, TX.

Pre-Healthcare Club

At their Feb. meeting, the

Pre-Healthcare Club met with Dr. Kaci Bohn '04, professor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy.


WT undergraduates were also able to connect with current TTUHSC students and learn about curriculum, application criteria and the interview process.

English Equestrian Team

WT Equestrian's Hunt Seat Team traveled to Oklahoma City last week where they secured their 8th consecutive Regional Competition


Team member Ryan Wight, senior Business Administration major, was awarded the Cacchione Cup for Region 2.


The English Team's next show will be the Zone Championship in Chicago, where Wight will compete in a Zone-qualifying class for the chance to participate in the Cacchione Cup at Nationals.
