VALLEJO - Over 200 drivers were screened for DUI and valid driver’s licenses resulting in 22 citations being issued for driving with a suspended/revoked license, no license issued, and other related violations while conducting a DUI checkpoint on December 18, 2020.
The checkpoint was held at Sonoma Blvd. and Solano Ave. from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and yielded the following results:
- 22 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license
- 10 vehicles were impounded
- 3 drivers were arrested for illegal possession of firearms
- 1 driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
- No DUI arrests were made.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
The Vallejo Police Department partnered with the Solano County Probation Department to conduct this checkpoint. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
