Beyond Words 2017

Over 400 people attended HPL’s 2017 Beyond Words event on November 29th featuring author Victor LaValle.

Featured author Victor LaValle shared stories of his personal connection with libraries and captivated the room with his short story, Debt. The evening also honored the legacy of Sharon O’Meara with the 2017 Caroline M. Hewins Award. Judy Rozie-Battle of HFPG gave a moving tribute, and Sharon’s spouse, Cheryl O’Meara, accepted the award on Sharon’s behalf. Also, thanks to our generous guests who responded to the call for donations from Tim Sullivan, Jr.—we anticipate well-exceeding our fundraising goal!
