About the Program

California public entities operate under certain immunities from litigation that make it complicated for harmed individuals to bring claims against them. While the recent decision in Tansavatdi v. City of Rancho Palos Verdes (2023) 14 Cal. 5th 639, does provide some assistance to those looking to penetrate these immunities, there remain strict rules and regulations when attempting to assert claims against public entities. This program will explore the key public entity immunities all attorneys should know when contemplating claims against public entities. Presented as a case study, this program will explore immunities that deal with dangerous conditions of public property, design immunity, and overcoming privette.
