On my recent trip, I was questioned about my background in both architecture and yoga. They commented that the two seem pretty different and was interested to know more about my experiences. The thought was that architecture is an intense and competitive environment and that yoga is much more go with the flow and nurturing. While my experiences to date can certainly justify these perceptions and stereotypes on occasion, there is so much more to both - and their qualities and resulting influences on my life overlap quite a bit.
Shifting perspective.
Extending my comfort zone.
Becoming more self confident.
These are all things I've experienced in the past 15 years because of yoga. But, when I think back to those challenging days in architecture school, these are some of the same things that I was beginning to learn then too. I'm sure that if you take time to think about it, there are a myriad ways that all the once assumed disparate directions you have gone actually bring you more to YOU.
There are many paths to discover and uncover who we are. What are the underlying relationships and alignments? Maybe the ways in which they intersect and overlap are the keys to better understand ourselves?
Journeying on...
