Good afternoon

Starting Sunday night, we’ll begin a series of overnight closures of Route 4 to remove the temporary arches at the Division Street Bridge. Learn more here.

Daytime alternating lane closures on the Airport Connector, for center median, drainage and pavement work and on Post Road, for curb and sidewalk work, are anticipated.

Cottrell Bridge, Westerly

We are scheduled to install the prefabricated bridge deck this weekend. Then, we’ll work to install rebar and prep for the bridge deck concrete pours. Motorists continue to follow a signed detour around the closed bridge.

Hunts Mill Bridge, East Providence

Bridge demolition is nearly complete and we are installing micropiles on both sides of the Ten Mile River as we work to build the new bridge. It remains closed with a signed detour in place.

I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

On Friday night, September 16, we’re scheduled to partially shift traffic onto the new I-95 North Viaduct. The high-speed lane will shift to the new structure, with the remaining two lanes staying on the existing bridge. Next week, motorists can expect alternating lane closures for deliveries, sign installation and excavation at the west abutment for the Smith Street Bridge and various ramp closures within the Exit 22 interchange for abutment and foundation work. Follow signed detours and get specifics here.

Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence

Paving is complete for this portion of the project. We’re currently installing ADA compliant sidewalks, with permanent striping planned to begin the end of next week, weather permitting. A weekday right lane closure from Smith Street to Beaufort Street is scheduled for these operations.

Pawtucket/Central Falls Transit Center

Last month, we completed the majority of the Transit Emphasis Corridor, half a mile of dedicated bus and bicycle lanes leading to the Center. We also began to install the platforms for the Boston bound commuter passengers, and the roofing and exterior metal panel system along the elevator towers and pedestrian bridges for the Transit Center.

Pell Bridge Ramps Phase 2, Newport

Bridge rehabilitation and demolition work will continue along Route 138 and may require temporary lane shifts along Third Street and JT Connell Highway. Night work is expected for paving on Admiral Kalfbus Road at the intersection of Girard Avenue and Malbone Road toward Hillside Avenue. Please drive slowly and be aware the area will be gravel temporarily until paving is completed. Electrical work including mast arm foundation construction along JT Connell Highway, Admiral Kalbfus Road and Halsey Street and shared use path construction along the Newport Secondary Rail Line in the vicinity of the cemetery is anticipated. Gas utility work will also continue along Halsey Street. Flaggers and police details will be onsite to guide vehicles through the work zones.

Reservoir Avenue Railroad Bridge, Providence

Ongoing weekday and overnight operations at the bridge include building the foundations to ultimately support its girders and forming and pouring the new concrete end posts and backwall. The bridge remains closed to traffic with a signed detour in place.

Route 6/10 Interchange Reconstruction, Providence

As part of this project, we need to close the on-ramp from Route 6 East to Route 10 South to install a new gas main across it Monday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. We also need to close Harris Avenue, from Delaine Street to Atwells Avenue, weekdays for daytime excavation of the former Harris Avenue Bridge and its approaches. Please follow signed detours during all closures and click here for other anticipated traffic impacts.

Schoolhouse Road Culvert, Warren

We have installed the box culvert tunnel sections. These are the precast concrete sections that allow the water to flow through as we build the culvert. Next, we plan to install the headwalls and wingwalls, backfill and bring the area up to grade, as traffic continues following the signed detour around the closed portion of Schoolhouse Road.

_
Washington Bridge, East Providence/Providence

Median barrier and bridge deck repairs require overnight left lane closures within both sides of the project area along I-195.
