Salary threshold for workers exempt from overtime pay set to increase July 1

The U.S. Department of Labor recently issued a final overtime rule raising the salary threshold for overtime exemptions (i.e. executive, administrative, professional and certain computer-related roles) under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Effective July 1, 2024, the final rule increases the salary threshold for exempt workers from $684 per week ($35,568 annually) to $844 per week ($43,888 annually) beginning July 1, 2024.

Dept. of Justice reiterates guidance on use of medication in jails for opioid use disorder

The U.S. Department of Justice is reminding correctional facilities, including county jails, about the applicability of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to incarcerated individuals recovering from opioid use disorder (OUD).

Registration deadline for 2024 salt auction is May 15

In a reverse auction, sellers place bids for the amount they are willing to be paid for their goods or services, and at the end of the auction, the seller bidding the lowest dollar amount wins.


This year, KACo's salt auction will be held June 12 and 13. The deadline to register for participation is May 15.

The Pulaski County Detention Center, with the Somerset/Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce and a host of partners, celebrated the grand opening of PCDC's Workforce and Re-entry Center. This warehouse, renovated by inmates, will host technical skills trainings as part of the jail's innovative re-entry program.

The re-entry program has graduated 34 inmates to date.

The office staff of the Harlan County Sheriff's Office is proudly wearing UK blue today in honor of Trent Noah committing to play basketball at the University of Kentucky. Noah played basketball at Harlan County High School.

Daviess County Judge/Executive Charlie Castlen signed a disaster declaration for the county following severe storms on May 8. The Emergency Management Agency reported major hazards, including power outages, along with damage from downed trees and flooding.
