Free February Event: Building Legacy



Join CHFA at Spangalang Brewery for the free February event in Building Legacy: A Black Homeownership Series. 

In Part IV – Creating and Maintaining Wealth Through Homeownership, learn about the benefits of homeownership, how to leverage home equity, and building generational wealth. Food and drinks 

will be provided.

Black History Community Event



Find out about homeownership resources and the current Colorado housing market at the Sam Cary Bar Association Black History Month event on Saturday, February 28th from 10:00am to 3:00pm at Zion Community Center in Denver.

CHFA Business Development Specialist Greg Brown will be part of a homeownership panel at the event. The event will also include education about 

housing laws.

Support to Prepare for Homeownership



In 2025, CHFA supported more than 5,491 households in achieving homeownership and served more than 8,700 homebuyer education customers. Through responsive programs, community outreach, and strategic partnerships, CHFA remained adaptive to market conditions and ongoing feedback from homebuyers and lenders.  

CHFA had a strategic initiative to increase Black and African American homeownership by 440 households in 2025. CHFA ended the year serving 348 households – achieving 79 percent of the goal. 

To support Black and African American homebuyers, CHFA hosted Building Legacy: A Black Homeownership Series, community events focused on overcoming barriers to homeownership. 

In addition, and based on customer feedback, CHFA expanded eligibility for the CHFA FirstGeneration^sm home loan program, requiring that only one borrower be a first-generation homebuyer. As a reminder, the CHFA FirstGeneration^sm home mortgage loan supports homebuyers who have never owned a home and whose parents or guardians have never owned a home. 

Of the 5,491 households CHFA supported, 12 percent (657 households) utilized a CHFA FirstGeneration home loan. Notably, 8 percent of FirstGeneration borrowers self-identified as Black or African American compared to 5 percent across all CHFA home mortgage loans made last year.
