Free event: Homeownership and Financial Workshop



Take the next step toward homeownership at the African Leadership Group’s Homeownership and Financial Workshop in Aurora on Saturday, June 27th. Greg Brown, CHFA Business Development Specialist, will be at the workshop, which will include information about budgeting, credit, savings, and homebuying basics. Free event: Juneteenth Music Festival



The Juneteenth Music Festival in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood is Saturday, June 20th, and CHFA would welcome the opportunity to connect with you there. The event features free live music and “Denver’s longest-running parade,” a neighborhood Juneteenth tradition dating back to the 1950s. 

CHFA is a sponsor of the event, and Business Development Specialist Greg Brown will be there sharing resources available for homeownership, including the CHFA FirstGeneration^sm program. The program may help you begin your legacy of homeownership with up to $25,000 in down payment assistance. Learn more at chfainfo.com/firstgen.

New homeownership spotlight



Elevation Community Land Trust partners with Colorado communities to create permanently affordable homeownership opportunities for low- to moderate-income households through the community land trust (CLT) model. In the CLT model, the nonprofit retains ownership of the land that the house sits on, leasing the land to the homeowner for a designated period of time. There is a shared equity resale formula written into the land lease.

One of Elevation Community Land Trust’s latest developments is The Hattie McDaniel, which includes 62 permanently affordable condominiums located in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood. CHFA provided financing for the development. The Hattie McDaniel, named in honor of the iconic African American actress and singer, celebrates her legacy and Denver roots.
