Ox & Yoke Mercantile Opens Jul. 2 at Old Sturbridge Village
New OSV gift shop opens, offers special activities for holiday weekend

Sturbridge, M.A. – Ox & Yoke Mercantile is the newest shopping experience at Old Sturbridge Village, celebrating its grand opening on Saturday, Jul. 2, 2022. The store, which will be located outside of the OSV Visitor Center, will offer upscale items meant for the modern day, including home décor, bath and body, books for both adults and children, food items, gardening supplies, toys, Village-made crafts and kits and more.

In celebration of its opening weekend, Ox & Yoke Mercantile will be hosting several special in-store events:
Cedar & Pearl Ornament Painting Demonstration
Jul. 2, 2022 | 1:00-3:00 p.m.
On opening day, Ox & Yoke Mercantile will host artist Stephanie Guzik-Lendrum for a painting demonstration of her cleverly-crafted ornaments. Guzik-Lendrum creates hand-painted, laser-cut keepsake wooden ornaments—including her Cedar + Pearl collection of heirloom quality ornaments—at her workshop in Glens Falls, N.Y. She has worked with OSV for the past two years to create ornaments that help visitors bring home memories of their experiences and time spent at the Village.
Hector Fox and the Raven’s Revenge Book Signing
Jul. 2, 2022 | 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Author Astrid Sheckels will be at Ox & Yoke Mercantile on opening day signing copies of her newest book Hector Fox and the Raven’s Revenge. Written and illustrated by Sheckels, this book is the next in the whimsical Hector Fox series and has been a sell-out at OSV. Sheckels is a member of the Western Massachusetts Illustrators Guild and The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
Live Music & Free Tote Giveaway
Customers to Ox & Yoke Mercantile will receive a free tote during opening weekend with a purchase of $50 or more. The tote features a whimsical scene of Old Sturbridge Village and is a limited-edition item only available while supplies last. Ox & Yoke will also host live music by a Village Musician on Sunday, Jul. 3 from 1:00-1:30 p.m. and 2:00-2:30 p.m.

Ox & Yoke Mercantile will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday or during holiday hours at the Village and special events. Members of Old Sturbridge Village will receive a 10% discount on all regular price merchandise when they show their membership I.D. upon checkout.

About Old Sturbridge Village
Old Sturbridge Village, first opened to the public in 1946, is one of the country's oldest and largest living history museums, celebrating life in early New England from 1790-1840. It is the largest living history museum in the Northeast, celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2021.
