Oxnard College Arts Soaring High

The Oxnard College Art+Design Complex officially opened its doors for the public!

The celebration also featured the official rededication of the McNish Gallery.

These projects were made possible through college funds as well as private donations. The $2.5 million Art + Design complex houses new curriculum, including digital art design, and the college will eventually bring on additional full-time faculty beginning in Spring 2024. The project was partially funded through a half-million-dollar donation from the Oxnard College Foundation. Additionally, the McNish Art Gallery’s renovation was funded through a $25,000 donation from the Carnegie Art Cornerstones.

The occasion was especially exciting, as the dedication began with the unveiling of the new mural, featured in the OC Amphitheater. Special thanks to the California Arts Council for its mural project grant, which reflects on the COVID-19 pandemic by honoring those who were lost and celebrating the community’s resilience.

Student Support Services benefits from international online community!

Oxnard College's TRIO Student Support Services program provides invaluable resources and mentorship, inspiring success to 140 students. While the program receives federal funding, the cost to provide an abundance of support to students extends beyond available funds. As a result, SSS relies on charitable contributions.

Thanks to a spark created by one of its active supporters, OC's SSS program was introduced to Robot Army, a 7,500-member international online community at a recent virtual event. Thanks to Arik Texon, Founder of Drawmearobot.com, over $1,700 was raised for the direct benefit of students in the SSS program.

Large donation funds expensive classroom equipment for students

Oxnard College has been selected to receive a $100,000 grant from the Grammy Award-winning band Metallica and its foundation, All Within My Hands. The award will support students in the college’s Culinary Arts, Dental Hygiene and Fire Academy programs as the band continues its multimillion-dollar investment in critical workforce programs at community colleges nationwide.

The Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI) was launched in 2019 by Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands (AWMH), in partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). The workforce initiative marks its fifth year with an ambitious expansion into new curricula.

Contributions from campus and district employees sets all-time high!

The first people to arrive and last to leave campus every day are the faculty, staff, and administrators of this amazing school. Their tireless efforts create a multitude of opportunities for OC students, which may never be measured. On top of all they do for Oxnard College, many make financial contributions to increase scholarship awards, expand campus programs, and provide additional student resources.

Payroll deductions and monthly donations made by OC personnel continues to rise each year. The OC Foundation appreciates the financial investments made to the advancement of the College and success of its students.
