Student Support Services benefits from international online community!

Oxnard College's TRIO Student Support Services program provides invaluable resources and mentorship, inspiring success to 140 students. While the program receives federal funding, the cost to provide an abundance of support to students extends beyond available funds. As a result, SSS relies on charitable contributions.

Thanks to a spark created by one of its active supporters, OC's SSS program was introduced to Robot Army, a 7,500-member international online community at a recent virtual event. Thanks to Arik Texon, Founder of Drawmearobot.com, over $1,700 was raised for the direct benefit of students in the SSS program.

SCHOLARSHIPS

2023/2024 Awards Announced

Students attending classes at Oxnard College this semester are receiving notifications of scholarships earned. In fact, 151 Continuing/Returning and Entering students were selected to receive scholarship grants amounting to $147,750. This is outstanding!

A scholarship reception is being planned for Friday, September 29. Details have not been finalized, but it will likely be a casual mid-afternoon event on campus. Recipients and scholarship donors will receive invitations next week.

Alert for Scholarship Donors

Donors wishing to create scholarship funds to be awarded for the 2024/2025 school year have until September 15 to create the funds. Please contact Pete Parker if you wish to create a scholarship.

The next application round will open on October 3.

Contributions from campus and district employees sets all-time high!

The first people to arrive and last to leave campus every day are the faculty, staff, and administrators of this amazing school. Their tireless efforts create a multitude of opportunities for OC students, which may never be measured. On top of all they do for Oxnard College, many make financial contributions to increase scholarship awards, expand campus programs, and provide additional student resources.

Payroll deductions and monthly donations made by OC personnel continues to rise each year. The OC Foundation appreciates the financial investments made to the advancement of the College and success of its students.

NEW BOARD MEMBER

The OC Foundation proudly welcomes Maria Thayer

Maria works at California Lutheran University as the Director of Hispanic-Serving Institution Initiatives and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice Programs. As a first-generation college graduate, Maria's mission is to make higher education accessible to all students. She brings 16 years of leadership experience to the campus. She received her bachelor's from CSUN in Psychology and Chicana/o Studies, a master's from CSUCI in Business Administration (MBA) and is currently a doctoral candidate at California Lutheran University.

Maria serves on Oxnard College's Foundation board because it aligns with her social justice values and goal of empowering community members through education. She looks forward to assisting the Foundation in supporting Oxnard College's campus development, student scholarships, and educational programs. Her priority this year is to help the Foundation raise funds and provide more students with the financial support they need to succeed in college.
