Oz Relay is Saturday, May 16

The annual Oz Relay will be held at the YWCA on Saturday, May 16.

The Oz Relay honors the memory of Flying Fish swim coach and instructor Oswald "Oz" Roper (pictured with Pete) and raises money to fund scholarships for the Flying Fish Swim School -- so we don't turn families away based on their ability to pay.

Oz Relay details

The Oz Relay will be held May 16, beginning at 6 am and ending at 6 pm.

The Oz Relay is open to everyone! This includes:

  • All Flying Fish swim team members. (Swimmers age 9-under must swim with a parent or guardian.)
  • Flying Fish alums, parents, siblings and extended family.
  • Masters swimmers, lap swimmers, community members, dog paddlers.
  • Anyone else who likes the water and wants to help kids learn to swim.

More about the relay:

  • The goal is to fill each lane of our 25-yard pool for the entire event.
  • You can sign up for a 30-minute or one-hour swim (or more) in a lane to yourself. Kickboards, fins, etc. are fine. We don't judge!
  • You pick the time you want to swim.
  • Each 30-minute leg of the relay requires a $175 donation, which is the cost of one entire session of swim lessons in our swim school.

How to sign up for your swim

Go to Community Pass. On Community Pass, go to "click here to register" and find "Oz Relay Swim." You'll then select the time(s) you want to swim and make your donation.

You can also sponsor other swimmers and donate by clicking on "Oz Relay Sponsorship" on Community Pass.

There is no registration for the Oz Relay outside of Community Pass.

New to Community Pass? When you visit the site, click on "create an account." Questions about the Oz Relay? Contact Pete Caragher.
