College Funding Strategies

Join Mindy Popp, Founder of Popp & Associates, and John Pearson, Financial Planner at the Barnum Financial Group Center for College Planning, to learn about valuable college financing resources and recommendations. Funding a college education takes a multi-pronged approach. Aside from saving money or investing it in a 529 plan, there are creative tax and budgeting strategies to be aware of. SAT and ACT: A Guide for Parents

SAT vs. ACT, what are the differences between these two tests? Which would be better for your child? What else should parents know about the two tests? Spend an evening learning from two professionals in the college application field: Mindy Popp, Managing Director of Popp & Associates, and Ben Sexton, founder of Sexton Test Prep. The content, format and scoring method for each test will be covered, along with testing timelines and preparation. Mindy and Ben will also provide insight into how COVID-19 is affecting the tests and how colleges are responding. Other topics will include test-optional and test-blind admissions, subject tests, testing in athletic recruiting, online testing and scholarships. Limited to 20. Register here.

Winter College Fairs and Panel Discussions

Winter virtual college fairs will be starting soon! Students are encouraged to take advantage of these FREE opportunities to explore numerous schools and learn more about the admission process firsthand from college representatives.

In addition, juniors should also try to connect with admission officers who are visiting high schools virtually this spring. For more information about virtual college visits at your high school, please contact your school counselor.

Coalition for College Virtual College Fairs and Panel Discussions
Multiple panel discussions covering a wide range of topics related to the college search and application process, as well as college fairs, will be offered beginning on February 2. All events are free.
Parents and students are encouraged to attend.

As many of us know, standardized testing has been significantly disrupted by Covid-19. To stay informed about new developments, please visit the College Board SAT website and the ACT website for the most current information.

With the start of the New Year, now is the time to begin thinking about programs for Summer 2021. Though in-person opportunities are more limited due to the pandemic, there will be no shortage of STEM programs for high school students. Academic and research programs, as well as internships, volunteer work and employment, provide invaluable opportunities for students to supplement their formal education.
