As August approaches, back-to-school shopping becomes a top priority, especially for new college students. For families with students heading off to college for the first time this fall, please check out these fantastic resources:

Sallie Mae offer a free college packing checklist for families that will definitely come in handy.

Bed Bath & Beyond makes shopping for college a cinch. You can even create a college registry and share it with family and friends.

Whether you are searching for bedding, furniture or supplies to organize your new study space, IKEA can help.

Her Campu s offers "The Ultimate College Packing List" for girls. From clothing to dorm room necessities, this list covers all of the bases.

College Supply List is the go-to resource for guys. Print off your list and start shopping!

Upcoming Workshops and College Fairs

The summer months are filled with valuable FREE workshops and other outreach events for high school families. Students are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities to explore schools and learn more about the admission process firsthand from college representatives.

Coalition for College Virtual Workshops and Panel Discussions

Multiple panel discussions covering a wide range of topics related to the college search and application process, as well as workshops, are now available. All events are free.

Parents and students are encouraged to attend.

MEFA (Massschusetts Educational Financing Authority) is hosting multiple FREE events for parents and students this summer. Learn about college financing options, college admissions and more.

SAT and ACT Updates

As many of us know, standardized testing has been significantly disrupted by Covid-19. To stay informed about new developments, please visit the College Board SAT website and the ACT website for the most current information.

Please note that registration for 2021-2022 test dates for the SAT is now open. Students may also register for upcoming ACT test dates.

Rising high school seniors are encouraged to join the class to build skills that will enable them to succeed in college interviews. As a former college admissions officer, Mindy Popp will share expert guidance to help students feel confident and knowledgeable when speaking with college interviewers. Students will learn tips to best prepare for and engage in the interviews. What to wear, what questions to expect, and all the do’s and don’ts of college interviewing will be covered. With the start of college interviewing season in the late summer, this class will be beneficial for all college applicants.
