May 2020
Dear P&A Clients and Friends:

On this Memorial Day, we have many individuals to remember and honor. I first think of my own grandfather Chip who bravely fought in World War II as a Marine. Although he is no longer with us, I know that he would be impressed with the courageous acts we are witnessing every day as our frontline workers battle Covid-19. Though this country has suffered a tremendous loss of life , the light at the end of the tunnel becomes more attainable due to the unwavering efforts of our healthcare professionals, scientists, first responders, public safety officers, essential workers, politicians, and many more.

We also cannot forget the faculty and staff in schools and colleges across the globe who quickly adapted to the limitations of Covid-19 to provide virtual instruction to students.

I want to commend our parents and students whose lives have been turned upside down and have remarkably adjusted. Parents are juggling their own jobs with homeschooling and many other responsibilities. Students are making the most of a tough situation. I am so impressed with my clients who continue to work hard under challenging circumstances and have found creative ways to keep up their spirits, expand their education, and support others through virtual volunteering.

On this Memorial Day, I want to take a moment to recognize and remember the many individuals who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. I also want to acknowledge the heroes right in front of us whose talents and hard work are leading us through this Covid-19 crisis. Our strength and perseverance will be critical to maintain as we advance in the days ahead.

Please do not hesitate to contact P&A if we can be of assistance. Stay strong and healthy. We are thinking of you and look forward to being together again soon.

Warmly,

Mindy Popp

Virtual College and Financial Aid Events
Strive Virtual College Exploration will be hosted by StriveScan April 20-May 28 . The Strive Virtual College Exploration provides a robust and diverse schedule of events with 500 colleges from 47 states and 13 countries. Colleges will be sharing their knowledge and expertise, and we encourage parents and students to attend. Students should register in advance for any of the panel presentations and can do so here .

On May 26-28 , Colleges That Change Lives will be offering its Virtual College Exploration . Over the course of three days, CTCL will be hosting free presentations and information sessions open to students as well as school counselors and independent educational consultants. In addition to general sessions, each of the CTCL member institutions will also be hosting individual events highlighting their unique approaches to a liberal arts education.

Coalition for College invites students in grades 9-11 to participate in a virtual college fair including 100 colleges on May 28 . Please visit this website for more information.

Please also note that MEFA (Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority) is offering free webinars for the public about various topics related to the college and financial aid application processes. These webinars are very informative and are highly recommended.

In addition to these online events, high school juniors should contact the colleges that they hoped to visit this spring and learn what virtual opportunities they can take advantage of so that they can continue to advance in their college search and application process.

Please visit  P&A News and Events  to find more upcoming events in your local area.
