Dear Suzanne,

Welcome to Day 1 of Peace on the Path. We begin with P is for Physical.

As our world becomes increasingly digital and virtual, it’s more important than ever to nurture our physical selves.

We live in our bodies! Our bodies are our mental, emotional, spiritual “home” and transportation system.

Making a daily practice of body-focused routines sets a great foundation for your day. We depend on the marvelous machinery of our bodies, so to make sure your systems are in good condition optimizes how you can show up for every activity.

To get you started on the “right foot” begin the day with a check-in.

1)    Do an inventory:

a.     How did you sleep?

b.     Are you hydrated? As you prepare for the day, include a plan for water breaks.

c.     Have you had enough to eat? What might feel nourishing? Can you make that

happen for each meal today?

2)    Do a body scan:

a.     How does your body feel?

b.     Does it require special care? Such as movement/stretching/exercise, massage/

PT?

3)    Say thank you!

a.     Can you thank your body for yesterday’s efforts?

b.     Can you thank your body in appreciation for what it will carry you through in the

day ahead?

Respecting your physical self can be thought of as respecting an important member of your family or your team.

How would you treat a loved one or an integral part of your team?

Remember how good it feels to be cared for and acknowledged for what you do. In its unique way, your body will likely thank you in return.

Feel free to reach out with any comments or questions. I’m always happy to hear from you!
