Dear Parents and Families,

In this issue you will find some fun Halloween learning activities from Khan Academy. We also invite you to register your family for the ninth annual CORE 4 STEM Family Day on Saturday, November 3rd. This free event is located at several campuses across the city and spearheaded by the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce with support from many community, business and education partners.

Take some time to read about the latest activities happening at cafecollege. If you haven't signed up for the ESC Region 20 Family & Community Engagement Symposium coming up on November 2nd, then please do so below. We will be presenting at the symposium and would love to meet you. Finally, feel free to share this newsletter with your friends on social media or on your school website.


CORE 4 STEM Family Day is Saturday, November 3rd across San Antonio

Join the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the 9th Annual CORE4 STEM Family Day to be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018.
This is a free event and will kick-off our week-long program. This year, rhwy have partnered with 7 campuses throughout San Antonio including Northwest Vista College, Our Lady of the Lake University, Palo Alto College, San Antonio College, Texas A&M University – San Antonio, the University of the Incarnate Word, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Next UTSA Ready is Saturday, November 10th
The UTSA READY Program is an early awareness, academic preparation bridging program for high school juniors and seniors (11th and 12th grade students). The FREE Program helps students polish their reading, writing and mathematics skills in preparation for college level course work. The program is free and open to the community. The next session is Saturday, November 10, 2018. Registration is required.
Halloween Learning Fun with Khan Academy

Ready to get into the Halloween spirit? Check out the spooktacular new Halloween content they've added to Khan Academy Kids, their free educational program designed to inspire young children ages two to six to become learners for life. 


They have many exciting events happening at cafécollege!
Federal Student Aid Materials for Students and Parents
Students and parents, please go to StudentAid.gov/resources , FSA's informational website, where you can view electronic versions of publications, fact sheets, online tools, and other resources to help you prepare and pay for college or career school. 
The Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) has gone mobile!

Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce that students and parents may now download the myStudentAid app from both the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). 

7 Things You Need Before You Fill Out the 2019–20 FAFSA® Form
If you need financial aid to help you pay for college, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. The 2019–20 FAFSA form will be available on Oct. 1, 2018. You should fill it out as soon as possible on or after Oct. 1 at the official government site, fafsa.gov.
