While the holidays are a time for reflection, relaxation and celebration – they also can be filled with distractions – which can be costly in more ways than one. Our citizens frequently let down their guards – and as we inch closer to our shopping deadlines, safety can be sacrificed for speed. The related issues are especially unique this year, as with so many other things in 2020, holiday shopping has a different look and feel. While many shoppers are choosing to swap brick and mortar for click-and-ship, there are still those who prefer the traditional shopping experience, albeit with a mask. Regardless of your shopping method, whether in-store or online, vigilance should always be practiced. To help you avoid the unfortunate safety pitfalls related to holiday shopping, the P4 Companies are offering these tips to keep you safe and secure this holiday season.
In addition to staying safe while shopping, it is also important to be mindful of safety at work and at home. The holidays are a prime time for those looking to take advantage of late nights at the office, or homes full of newly purchased gifts. December is also the leading month for home fires, so be sure holiday lights are properly wired, smoke and CO2 detectors are working, and fire extinguishers are handy. Mike Catenacci

Mike Catenacci, Operations Manager, joined the P4 Companies in October 2020 with a focus on providing support in the retail vertical market. Mike has enjoyed an illustrious career in the security industry for more than 30 years, beginning as a community service officer in suburban Chicago, where he worked his way up the ranks to become the leader of a well-regarded and innovative county-wide task force. Mike attended the prestigious Northwestern University Police and Command Institute and received the designation of an Accident Reconstruction Specialist.
After retiring from the police force, Mike transitioned his career into the private security field for multiple large footprint stadium events, which included the management of the safety, security and protection of several high-profile entertainers for Feld Motorsports. Mike then became a director for a high-profile security firm in the Chicagoland area, where he managed an account for the largest outdoor retail property in the continental United States – a role that required him to travel extensively, as a leading member of the new property transition team. P4 Security Operations Center!

In the new year, the P4 Companies will be introducing a brand-new Security Operations Center (SOC)! Using artificial intelligence (AI) technology and smart cameras, this state-of-the-art facility will allow P4 security experts to provide expanded, round-the-clock coverage for clients via virtual patrols, all from one remote location - minimizing the need for - and the cost of additional onsite security personnel.
Located at P4's Chicagoland headquarters, the SOC will also offer investigation assistance, customized security reviews, temperature screenings, expedited incident reviews and documentation, and smart drills. And while the SOC is a defensive one-stop-shop, it is not just for security! With the appropriate AI and equipment, clients will also be able to use security sensors to assist with other business intelligence, including occupancy, visitor focus points and thermal mapping, to identify high traffic areas.
