COVID-19 PA Updates
PA saw 3,608 new cases since last Friday, bringing the total case count to 84,370 (includes confirmed and probable cases) in all 67 PA counties. View a breakdown of cases by region, county, gender, ethnicity, etc. here.  

News
  • The Pennsylvania Department of Health (PADOH) is alerting health care providers to an anticipated seasonal increase in Legionella infections combined with a potential increase in cases resulting from building reopenings as described in PA-HAN 507. Read more.

Provider Relief Fund Resources, Webinar Recording and Application Guide

CDC: Obesity among conditions that up risk of severe COVID-19 disease
Children who have medically complex conditions, who have neurologic, genetic or metabolic conditions, or who have congenital heart disease are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Learn more

AAP Pediatric Mental Health Minute Series
The Pediatric Mental Health Minute video series provides real-time education to support pediatricians caring for children and youth with mental health disorders.
  • Anxiety: John T. Walkup, MD, explores the scope of anxiety in pediatrics. Anxiety is a normal human emotion, triggered by expected challenges (taking a test) and the reaction is proportional. Normal anxiety can be severe and chronic if the life challenge is severe and chronic. 
  • Trauma Informed Care: Heather Forkey, MD, discusses trauma-informed care, which is defined by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network as medical care in which all parties involved assess, recognize, and respond to the effects of traumatic experiences on children, caregivers, and healthcare providers.

Weekly Pediatric Community Forum
Due to the growing need for up-to-date information and communication, PA AAP is has been offering a modified version of our "Let's Talk" webinar series to our members on a weekly basis, every Wednesday from 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM ET. Beginning in June, we will now offer these webinars on a bi-weekly basis as we shift gears to focus on recommendations and strategies around re-opening the state.
