Approved Supplemental Distance Learning Curriculum Search
The PA Adult Ed Resources website has a new feature that allows you to search for approved supplemental distance learning curricula. This advanced search can be customized to find either print or online resources that match the subject or NRS level that you are looking for. Over 80 different curricula are available with new ones being continually added. Try the approved DL curriculum search today.

Watch in the coming months for a separate search for teacher-created lessons that can be used for in-person and distance classes.

Communicating While Wearing a Mask
A recent Edutopia article, "The Masked Teacher," shares ideas for building rapport with students and having authentic interactions with students while using a mask.
Videos to learn more about Kahoot!, Nearpod, and Virtual Manipulatives
The Digital Literacy and Distance Education Project staff created a series of videos that provide an overview of technology you can use with your learners. Visit the distance learning page to learn more about Kahoot!, Nearpod, Khan Academy, and other tech tools. Go to the Distance Learning Resources section and click on the Videos tab.

COABE National Conference Registration
The Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE) National Conference will be held April 11-13, 2022, in Seattle, Washington. This conference will be a hybrid conference, meaning participants have the option of attending in person, completely virtual, or a mix of both. Attendees will have access to 400+ sessions, networking events, and over 50 vendor booths for more than six months after the conference. Webinar: Equity, Not Equality
The webinar titled "Equity, Not Equality: Practical Racial Justice Strategies to Increase Awareness" will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Current research tells us that when the learning environments are adjusted to students' specific backgrounds, the learning outcomes are increased. This session explores opportunities to increase racial justice awareness. Join this open space for brainstorming, collaborating, and inspiration to adapt learning environments to enhance adult student achievement with an emphasis on learners from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.
Enrollment and Retention
Are you struggling with enrollment and retention in your adult education program? The Pennsylvania Association for Adult Continuing Education (PAACE) will host a networking session on February 22, 12:15 - 1:15 p.m., to connect programs across the Commonwealth to discuss ways to increase enrollment and improve retention rates. Professional Learning for Adult Education and Family Literacy Staff
Staff at PDE-funded adult education and family literacy agencies can view a list of upcoming courses now available for enrollment in the PD Portal. For more information about any of these courses, please visit the PD Portal, open the course catalog, and review the syllabus. If you are interested in enrolling in a course, please consult with your in-house professional development specialist (IHPDS) to determine if the course meets your professional learning goals.
State and National Adult Education News
Help Improve LINCS
LINCS (Literacy Information and Communications System), the U.S. Department of Education's online hub for courses, resources, and community discussion related to adult education, is looking for feedback. If you have interest in helping to improve the LINCS experience for adult educators, then LINCS would like to talk to you, especially if you have never used the LINCS site. They will be having 25-minute interviews to better understand the needs, motivations, and goals of adult educators like you. If you're interested in having conversations with them, please fill out this 2-minute signup survey to let them know you are interested in giving feedback that will help to improve LINCS for users like you. 
Summit Review: Advancing Equity in Career-Connected Education
The summit hosted by the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) brought together a diverse range of presenters and panelists, including a re-entry student currently enrolled at a Michigan university. The summit emphasized the federal government’s commitment to advancing an equity agenda for career-connected education, including adult education, career and technical education (CTE), community colleges, and correctional education. PAACE Award Nominations
With the PAACE Conference approaching on May 15-17, PAACE is accepting nominations for several 2022 PAACE Awards. Submissions are due February 28, and winners will be notified by March 31. Awards based on work or service during the year 2021 include Outstanding Volunteer of the Year, Outstanding Partner of the Year, Outstanding Leader of the Year, Outstanding Student of the Year, and Outstanding Practitioner of the Year. The PAACE Outstanding Adult Educator Lifetime Achievement Award is based on an individual's career in the field of adult education. Click on the links above for submission forms for each award.
