National Apprenticeship Week
|
|
November 15-21, 2021, is National Apprenticeship Week. Whether your adult education program is part of the apprenticeship pipeline or still trying to figure out how to help learners get connected with apprenticeships, the Workforce Development System Liaison project has resources to help! The November 12 lunchtime webinar Helping Adult Learners Explore Multiple Career Pathway Options will include guests from Northampton County Community College. NCCC recently won the national ReThink Adult Ed Pre-apprenticeship Challenge and will be sharing ways to work with partners to help adult learners with career planning and navigating various career pathway options, including apprenticeships.
Want to have current apprentices share their experiences? Use the Integrating Career Awareness informal interview lesson (pp. 81-85) to help adult basic education and English language learners interview current and former apprentices.
Need customized technical assistance around pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships? Contact KayLynn (klh267@psu.edu) or Chrissie (cok5111@psu.edu).

A recent Edutopia article, Strategies for Teaching Students to Estimate, contains practical tips for teaching students how to estimate, from how to discuss estimation to how to extend that knowledge even further.
