Free Approved Distance Learning Curriculums | | |
As adult educators look to stretch budgets, we wanted to make everyone aware of several approved and free supplemental distance learning resources. These resources allow students to work asynchronously to reinforce what they learn in class while having those hours tracked and reported as supplemental distance learning in eData. You can find them on the Approved Distance Learning Curriculum section of the PAAER website.
This page contains over 140 approved resources and a series of filters you can use to find what works for you. Viewed on a computer, the filters are listed on the right-hand side. On a cell phone, you will scroll to the bottom of the page to find the filters. The last filter listed is "Cost." When you select "Free," you will see only the resources that have no cost to use. Click on a specific resource, and you will have the option of seeing its summary to learn more about its subjects, levels, reports, interface, and more.
If you would like help finding, choosing, or implementing supplemental distance learning resources, please contact the Digital Literacy & Distance Education Project by emailing Bethany Lezanic at blezanic@tiu11.org.

Classroom Furniture and Arrangement
Adult education teachers and tutors don't always have much control over their classrooms. Space is often shared or may be unreliable or even unpredictable but the Edutopia article, Why My Classroom Furniture Never Stays Still for Long, can still share some ideas that you can use. The author's point is that shifting the seating in a classroom signals a shift in thinking for the students. Perhaps you can learn from the example classroom setups or maybe you can translate those ideas into your own situation. Either way, the idea rings true that the priority for any classroom should be the best way to facilitate the learning for the students.
