New AI Page on the PAAER Website | | |
New resources are available for adult education practitioners who want to improve their use of artificial intelligence (AI). On the new Artificial Intelligence page of the PAAER website, practitioners in a variety of roles can find resources to aid in critically examining generative AI tools, understanding principles for effective AI use, and exploring vetted external resources.
Visit the AI page if you need support with:
- Learning about different types of AI.
- Selecting an AI tool for use in your classroom or in your program.
- Guiding students or staff members in applying AI in their learning and work.
- Seeing what other respected organizations, such as World Education, are sharing about AI in the classroom.

Integrated Education and Training (IET) Video Series
The videos in this series provide information that can help adult education practitioners and partners develop Integrated Education and Training (IET) programming or decide if maybe IET is not the right instructional approach to meet the needs of their learners and employers. Videos 1-5 provide a basic overview of IET. These might be helpful to use with both internal and external partners to help them better understand what IET is and why adult education providers need partners for IET to be successful. Videos 6-12 may be most helpful for teachers and student support coordinators who will be working directly with IET program participants. The videos, along with customized technical assistance from the IET Project, can help adult education programs and their partners to be better prepared to complete the Integrated Education and Training Planning Tool and Proposal. CASAS Updates and Important Reminders
Please be advised that the CASAS Reading GOALS test form will officially sunset on June 30, 2026. Beginning July 1, 2026, PA Department of Education-funded programs using CASAS Reading GOALS must instead use CASAS Reading GOALS 2. Programs are encouraged to review the updated Reading GOALS 2 Blueprints on the CASAS website to familiarize staff with assessment updates and changes. To support this transition, all CASAS-related training modules will be updated to reflect Reading GOALS 2 on July 1, 2026. Please note that CASAS modules will also reset on July 1, 2026. If you are currently completing a module, and it is not finished by June 30, 2026, you will need to re-enroll and begin the module again after the reset. Supporting Immigrant Learners and Allies in Adult Education
The Pennsylvania Association for Adult Continuing Education (PAACE) Professional Development Committee is hosting a two-part trauma-informed professional learning series. Titled "Supporting Immigrant Learners and Allies in Adult Education," these webinars aim to provide practical guidance and trusted resources, trauma-informed strategies for support and communication, space for reflection, discussion and community learning, as well as information and resources for both practitioners and learners. Upcoming Professional Learning for Adult Education and Family Literacy Staff
Staff at PDE-funded adult education and family literacy agencies can view a list of upcoming courses now available for enrollment in the PD Portal. For more information about any of these courses, please visit the PD Portal, open the course catalog, and view the syllabus. If you are interested in enrolling in a course, please consult with your in-house professional development specialist (IHPDS) to determine if the course meets your professional learning goals.

Workforce-Focused Professional Development
As programs develop their PI-PD plans for PY 26-27, workforce-focused professional development can be an effective way to support data goals related to enrollment and persistence. Courses available through the Workforce Staff Training website can help practitioners strengthen their understanding of the workforce system and identify ways to support learners in meeting their career goals. Face-to-face and virtual customized professional development activities around the courses are available from the Workforce Development System Liaison Project. This could support PI-PD plans by strengthening referral practices, supporting co-enrollment efforts, and enhancing the overall learner experience. Board of Higher Education's Regional Convenings
Pennsylvania’s State Board of Higher Education (SBHE) recently passed a strategic plan that includes the goal of addressing postsecondary workforce credential gaps via cross-section, regional collaborations. As the first step in this process, the SBHE invites your participation in an upcoming regional convening focused on this
topic. Three dates remain: Tuesday, July 21; Thursday, July 23; and Tuesday, July 28. If you are interested, read the informational sheet from the SBHE and then contact Carrie Amann, SBHE Economic and Workforce Development Director, at camann@pa.gov.
