PA Chamber Launches Career Calculator to Help PA Students Maximize Career Options

Last week, the PA Chamber Educational Foundation launched "Your Career Starts HERE" – an online career calculator aimed at helping Pennsylvania students make informed post-secondary education decisions. As the next phase of the PA Chamber’s wide-ranging workforce initiative aimed at addressing the jobs skills gap, Start the Conversation HERE, the calculator pulls key Pennsylvania specific information – including starting salary, educational costs and potential loan payments upon graduation. This new website tool is designed to help Pennsylvania students determine the most productive career path.

Batfest at Lincoln Caverns, Inc.

Lincoln Caverns, near Huntingdon, PA, presents its special brand of Valentine Weekend fun with its fourteenth annual BATFEST on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. During six hours of informative, hands-on fun, participants develop a deeper appreciation for Pennsylvania's most fascinating mammals. This popular family event, for bat enthusiasts of all ages, features a day full of activities, cavern tours, and a pizza lunch. 2020 marks the thirtieth year of bat education at Lincoln Caverns. The staff looks forward to sharing new bat crafts and games with Batfest visitors. Guests ages 12 and over are invited to participate in the building of bat houses, to be awarded to lucky attendees through a random drawing at the end of the day.

A special treat at this year's Batfest will be a visit from Robyn Graboski, of Centre Wildlife Care. Ms. Graoboski is a popular guest at Lincoln Caverns' events, as well as many other regional events. She rehabilitates a wide variety of Pennsylvania animals, including bats. Betsy, one of Centre Wildlife Care's big brown bats, will be a special guest, offering Batfest participants an up close and personal encounter with one of our furry friends.

Mike Scafini, a bat biologist with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, will be joining us at Batfest this year, with an informative program including information about Pennsylvania's bats, as well as an update on White Nose Syndrome. The presentation will also feature an update on the Game Commission's bat habitat project at nearby Indian Caverns. Lincoln Caverns has participated in education efforts, as well as raising funds for WNS research during the past ten seasons.

The highlight of Batfest is always the visit to the caverns, Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks. The interpretive tours of two spectacular crystal caverns features history, geology, bat facts, and trivia, while offering guests plenty of time for questions. Lincoln Caverns' staff is thrilled to share the news of the return of a few hibernating bats for the second year in a row. The caverns are a comfortable 50° year round, making them the ideal place to spend a winter afternoon. Lincoln Caverns' gift shop features a wide variety of logo items and bat gifts. Great discounts are included with Batfest tickets. A portion of ticket purchases supports Centre Wildlife Care.
