TOY DRIVE IS COMING

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED TO MAKE OUR 2ND TOY DRIVE A SUCCESS!

Please help us collect new & unwrapped toys!

Donations are needed by December 9th.

Current Needs: Toys for boys and girls, 0-2 years old and 9-12 years old.


The collection box is located in the lobby of the PA Dutch Council Offices and is available during business hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. (Please note the holiday hours listed in this newsletter.)


To make arrangements to drop-off your toys at another time or place, please contact zena.korba@scouting.org.

2025 SPRING PRODUCT SALE

Unit Leaders, Sign-Up Today!


We are once again partnering with Dutch Mill Bulbs located in Palmyra, PA. We first partnered with Dutch Mill Bulbs in 2023 which resulted in a great sale. Since we first partnered, Dutch Mills has supported the PA Dutch Council in other fundraising events. We truly appreciate their commitment to Scouting in Lancaster and Lebanon counties.


The spring sale will run from January 17, 2025 to March 12th. Units can sign-up for the sale beginning today, December 1st, until Friday, January 10th, 2025. Each participating Unit will keep 25% commission on the total sales. By signing-up your Unit, you are providing an opportunity for your Scouts to help earn their way to summer camp.


Online Sales!

Scouts will again have the opportunity to sell bulbs to their friends and family through online sales! More information will be provided in the spring sale guidebook that is in development.

2024 Fall Product Sale - December Update

THANK YOU!

As the Fall Product Sale concludes, the Fall Product Sale Committee extends heartfelt thanks to all Unit Kernels who contributed to its success!

 

This sale plays a crucial role in supporting the success of our Council, and the committee deeply appreciates the time, effort, and dedication each Unit Kernel has invested. Just as importantly, your achievements in this sale empower your Unit to fund an entire year of exciting Scouting adventures.

 

Thank you for making a difference!

 

Take Order Invoices

Take Order invoices have been emailed to all Unit Kernels. If your Unit did not receive a Take Order invoice, please contact Lauren Bowen at lauren.bowen@scouting.org.

 

Fall Product Sale Payments

Payments are due no later than Thursday, December 5. Payments can be made at the Scout Shop Monday through Friday, 10:30 am - 4:30 pm. Checks or cash will be accepted. When using a credit card, a 3% processing fee will be added. Please note, the Scout Shop and Council Offices will be closed Friday, December 6.

 

To mail a payment, please make your check payable to Pennsylvania Dutch Council and send to: Pennsylvania Dutch Council, BSA, 630 Janet Avenue, Suite B-114, Lancaster, PA 17601.

 

Bonus Percentages and Commissions

The last step to the 2024 Product Sale is to award bonus percentages to Units who qualified. The list of qualifications to earn bonus percentages can be found in the 2024 Guidebook. The Council will be depositing all commissions, including online sales commissions, in the Unit’s Scout Shop account. Kernels will receive a statement with the breakdown of online sales and bonus commission percentages by January 15, 2025.

 

Council prizes will be announced by January 15, 2025.

 

Excess Product Available For Units To Sell

After all orders have been filled, additional product will likely be available to sell by Units. Kernels, if your Unit would like to try additional sales, such as a Show and Sell or Wagon Drag, please send an email to both Lauren Bowen at lauren.bowen@scouting.org and Robin Kotzmoyer at robin.kotzmoyer@Scouting.org.


Frosty Fun For Cub Scouts At Camp Mack THIS Month!

Join Us For Some Frosty Fun on Sunday, December 15th &

Bring a Friend!


Cub Scout Packs, put this event on your schedule and make sure to invite friends (and their parent)! Participants will enjoy games, crafts, cookie decorating, songs, a campfire, and most importantly... have lots of FUN!


Two sessions will be offered. Sign up for either the 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. session, or the 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. session. The cost is $10 per youth. A parent or guardian must attend with their Scout.

Does Your Unit Need Service Hours?

Volunteers are needed to help out at this event. Individuals or Troops can join in the fun to deliver a great program for all Cub Scouts to remember. Help is needed to run the activity stations. Instructions will be provided, along with all supplies required to run the station.

December 2024 Roundtable Topics

District Roundtables

Open to all Unit Members and Volunteers, roundtables are held the first Thursday of each month, from September through May. The goal of these meetings is to provide leaders with information that will help their units thrive.

Trivia Night at the Millersville VFW - January 10th

What’s better than an evening with your Scouting friends? Competing with, or against them, at Trivia Night! Come with a group, play solo, or form a team when you arrive at the Millersville VFW on Friday, January 10th for the Susquehanna District's Trivia Night.

Due to popular demand, three treks will once again be offered to participants: Webelos/Arrow of Light (AOL), Scouts BSA sled, and Iron Will. Troops are welcome to camp for the weekend. Scholarship Opportunity - Deadline January 24, 2024

Glenn A. & Melinda W. Adams Service Project of the Year Award

Do you know of an Eagle Scout who did a project this year that you thought was over and above that of his peers; one that really made an impact on the community? If so, please recommend that Scout for the Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award. 


Nominations for the Glenn A. & Melinda W. Adams Service Project of the Year Award can be submitted through the Council's local NESA Committee. The deadline for submission is January 24, 2025. Applications can be dropped off or mailed to the Council Service Center: Pennsylvania Dutch Council, 630 Janet Ave Ste B-114, Lancaster, PA 17601.
