It's Time To
Start Planning For
Scouting For Food!
|
"To help other people at all times" is not only part of the Scout Oath, it is the motivation behind Scouting for Food, a nationwide Boy Scouts of America community service project.
The annual Scouting for Food Drive of the Pennsylvania Dutch Council involves door-to-door food collection efforts by Scouts to collect non-perishable food for local food pantries located in Lancaster and Lebanon counties. Scouts will distribute informational door hangers a week prior to the collection day. On the morning of the collection day, Scouts will be seen across the two counties canvassing neighborhoods to collect bags and boxes full of non-perishable food destined for families in our community that need a little extra help during the winter.
Reminder - Scouting For Food takes place on the FIRST and SECOND Saturday of November.
-
On Saturday, November 2nd, Scouts will distribute door hangers to houses and on the following Saturday, November 9th, Scouts will return to collect the donated food.
Information and a sign-up link will be sent out to unit leaders early October with door hangers available at the end of October. Door hangers will have a space for units to add their contact information.
