Candidate for U.S. Senate John Fetterman held a rally in Erie last Friday. We marked the occasion with a pro-life demonstration at the entrance to the Bayfront Convention Center, where the rally was being held. The demonstration was billed as an appeal to Fetterman to rethink his shockingly extreme pro-abortion position.
A dozen Erie area residents participated. It was not an impressive turnout, but perhaps not too bad for a Friday afternoon on short notice. In any case, we were seen and definitely got our message across.
The reactions from people arriving for the rally, and from passersby on the Bayfront Parkway, were a bit more negative than we are used to seeing, and in some cases even quite hostile. Some of this might have been due to the tense climate we are experiencing because of the Dobbs decision. It might also have had something to do with the strongly pro-abortion mindset of Fetterman's most dedicated followers.
The demonstration took place between 4:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. This was rush hour, a great time to be noticed by commuters on the Bayfront Parkway.
