Dear Summit Families,

Hi. I’m Deena Kessler. During the day, I teach third grade general education at a private school in Flushing. My most important job, however, is raising my four sons, the youngest of whom is Sam, a rising 10th grader at Summit's Upper School.

Last year, I made a conscious effort to volunteer often at Summit, as a way of both being involved in Sam’s school and making new friends for myself. I learned new computer skills. I learned how to package items for the auction at Summit's Annual Benefit. I attended PA meetings and Small Talks. My experience was so fulfilling, that this year, when asked, I agreed to serve as the Membership & Volunteer Coordinator for the PA.

Volunteer opportunities are abundant, and you could volunteer as much or as little time as your schedule permits. We simply ask that everyone volunteer to help with something during the year. So, come on in and spend some time with us. Help our school and make a new friend. Everyone is welcome.

Remember, our PA’s success depends on YOU!  We are seeking 100% participation from our parent body in membership and volunteers. That means we need YOU! Click here to go to our website to view volunteer opportunities and to join the PA .  Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected] to discuss any volunteer opportunities that interest you or if you have any membership questions.

I'm looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming school and PA events in September.
