CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL SUPPORT GRANTS ANNOUNCEMENT

The 2019-20 Commonwealth budget included a line item for Cultural and Historical Support Grants. The application period for these grants opened on December 2, 2019 and will close on January 14, 2020. The timeline allows adequate time for you to complete and submit the application and for the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) to review and approve funding recommendations at their March 2020 meeting.

MUSEUMS AND RESOURCE EFFICIENCY

Did you know that museums can be more energy intensive than hospitals ? Luckily, there are opportunities to bring the world’s museum community together to work in the same direction toward climate goals.

Recognizing this, this past September the International Council of Museums (ICOM) unanimously adopted a resolution asserting that all museums have a role to play in shaping and creating a sustainable future.

The National Endowment for the Humanities' (NEH) Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections Grants help cultural institutions such as museums, historical societies, and archival repositories meet the complex challenge of preserving large and diverse holdings of humanities materials for future generations by supporting sustainable conservation measures that mitigate deterioration, prolong the useful life of collections, and support institutional resilience: the ability to anticipate and respond to disasters resulting from natural or human activity.
