To Empower A Pennsylvania Where All Learners Thrive In Student-Centered Environments

Greetings!

As the doors open to another exciting academic year, we want to extend a warm welcome back to all of our educators across the Commonwealth. We hope your summer provided time to recharge, reflect, and gear up for the opportunities ahead.

The PA Student-Centered Learning Community of Practice (PASCL CoP) remains dedicated towards meaningful, impact-driven learning. As school districts and leadership teams focus on their new goals for the upcoming school year, PASCL hopes to be a partner to help innovate, share practical tools, and transform student outcomes.

If you are new to PASCL, or in case you missed it, check out our PASCL project lead, Ken Zimmerman, as he shares the history of PASCL and the student-centered learning conversations happening in Pennsylvania in this short video.

Hopewell Area High School

During this recent PASCL site visit, school administrators and educators had an opportunity to see Hopewell High School's Link Crew in action firsthand. Link Crew is a program where upperclassmen develop leadership and mentor skills to help rising freshmen transition to high school. The program has made a profound impact on Hopewell's school culture. Attendees were able to take back ideas and strategies to elevate the freshmen transition programs within their own schools.

Reminder - Impact Study Opportunity

SCL Logo

A reminder to educators and school leaders involved in PASCL Community of Practice. You are invited to participate in a statewide, learning-focused impact study during the 2026–2027 school year. If you have attended any of the network meetings , participated in professional development, used the OER resources or used the PASCL Blueprint or Navigator you are eligible to participate.

This impact study is designed to better understand how student-centered learning is being implemented across schools and districts, what supports are most helpful, and what additional resources or strategies may strengthen implementation moving forward. This is not an evaluation of individual educators or schools. The study is intended to help identify promising practices, common challenges, and future support needs across the state.  All participation is voluntary.

Participation opportunities may include:

  • Focus groups - October, 2026
  • Brief surveys - January, 2027
  • Optional follow-up interviews and artifact collection - March-April, 2027

For more information, please contact Peggy Schooling at pasclstudy@gmail.com.
