ADDRESSING CHANGES IN

VACCINE RECOMMENDATIONS

January 2026

Happy New Year! We hope everyone is off to a healthy start as you begin this new year. We want to remind you that we are here to walk alongside and support you while you take on the greatest responsibility of raising your children and keeping them mentally and physically healthy.

If you haven't already booked your children's Annual Well Check for 2026, please contact our front desk at 512-458-5323 to schedule with your primary care provider. Please be patient, as the New Year means lots of new insurance for many families. This can slow down check in if you aren't taking advantage of our pre-check in option via text. Please arrive earlier than usual to allow for those changes before seeing your provider.

We have many things to share with you, but today our physicians want to share guidance regarding recent changes in federal messaging around the childhood vaccine schedule. We have received numerous calls as well as many questions during appointments about the changes, so we felt it was appropriate to send a message to our PAA families and provide you with information that we hope will be helpful to you.

We recognize that this has created understandable confusion for many families. Our intention is to explain how we are interpreting these changes, outline our clinical approach, and provide the medical reasoning behind our continued recommendations - while emphasizing that we see ourselves as partners with you in caring for your child.

We understand that parents are trying to make thoughtful decisions in a rapidly changing information landscape. Our goal is to build trust through open conversation, clear reasoning, and respect for the seriousness of these decisions.

We continue to strongly support the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) immunization schedule because it is grounded in decades of high-quality data demonstrating safety and effectiveness in preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death. This is the same schedule that guided pediatric care for many years prior to recent federal wording changes.

We welcome thoughtful discussion and are always willing to engage deeply with families who have questions or concerns. Our approach is confident, evidence-based, and collaborative --not political or reactive. We believe the best care comes from honest dialogue paired with clear medical recommendations.
