And now for the Golden Opportunity!
Tesia Blackburn, a professional artist for 30 years and a Certified Working Artist for Golden Paints for the last 16 years, will be giving a 3 hour lecture on Saturday, August 13, from 3pm to 6pm.  She will cover the Golden products and their exciting uses.  She's just back from continuing Golden training in New Orleans and has LOTS of exciting techniques and information to share.  There will not be a charge for this event, but since space is limited, pre-registration will be required and will open in mid-June along with the four workshops listed above.

Then on Sunday, August 14, Tesia will give a six hour workshop covering both mixed media and water media with Golden products.  Surfaces and paints will be provided.  The cost is $120 and registration is through Tesia's website, www.placerville2016.eventbrite.com  That link will be active beginning Friday, June 10, and registration will begin at that time.  Because sign-ups are through Tesia's website, registration will be open to the public, so register as soon as you can if you're interested in this great opportunity!

june16paintout June Paint-Out

Join me on Wednesday, June 15, from 9am to 1pm for a morning of creativity at the Wakamatsu Historical Site at Gold Hill near Coloma.

Located at 941 Cold Springs Road, the Wakamatsu Tea And Silk Colony Farm is the site of the first Japanese colony in North America.  The American River Conservancy is currently restoring this site.

Placerville Art Association is partnering with ARC for this day of art.  Bring your easel and supplies, or camera, and spend the day painting, sketching, or "shooting" to your heart's content.  There are potentially thousands of beautiful images to capture at Wakamatsu.  With 272 acres of springs, streams, pond, oaks and vistas, an old barn, dairy, grave site, home and gardens - the viewpoints are endless.  Don't forget your sunscreen, bug spray, water, snacks, etc.  Docents will be on hand to share the history of this remarkable piece of property still being acquired by ARC.  They have done quite a bit of restoration this past year.

ARC would appreciate a call to sign up in advance so they can provide volunteer staff.  Call Julie (530) 621-1224.  For the flier, click  here

june16camp July Art Camp

The joint Placerville Arts Association/Folsom Arts Association art camp is coming up July 29, 30, and 31.  We spend the three days, from 10am to 4pm, doing art together in one of Folsom Lake College's lovely art classrooms.  Bring your own project and enjoy working on your pieces in the company of kindred spirits.

Come for all or part of the time - it's a bargain at $25 for the weekend.  To sign up, click  here to go to the page on the Folsom Arts website with the instructions.  Seats are limited and are made available on a first-com-first-served basis, so be sure to get your reservation and check in soon!

june16bird June Bird Challenge

June at PAA is "for the birds!"  Bring those bird challenge art pieces you've been working on to the June meeting to share!  Also, if you've been to any of the paint-outs in May, please also bring those pieces to share.

President's Letter

As the weather warms up, it is a great time to create art! Just like every other time of the year. J

There are two important PAA due dates to keep in mind this month:
  • June 19 is the deadline for online entries to PAA's 50th National Mother Lode Show
  • June 30 is the deadline for PAA's 2016 Artist's Studio Tour applications
I hope most of you will consider participating in one or both of these events. These are fantastic opportunities to get to know other talented artists and to have your work seen and appreciated.

And if you have created a bird themed art piece, please bring it to our PAA meeting, June 19th, for the June challenge. We had wonderful participation in our March challenge and it was inspiring to see all the beautiful art.

Looking forward to an art filled summer!
Linda Heath Clark
