The News

sept16mlsOur 50th Anniversary of the Annual National Mother Lode Art Show was a fine success.  The show was open daily for 15 days at the historic Shakespeare Club on Bedford Ave in Placerville.  We welcomed several hundred visitors.  The City of Placerville honored us with a PROCLAMATION of our 50th Anniversary.

The Call to Artists began April 1 and closed June 19, 2016.  Sylvia Coleman coordinated the online entries for Smarter Entry.  She also did an amazing job of reaching out to other art groups and associations.  She went a step further with our Publicity too.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped to set-up and take down the panels, receiving artwork and checking it out.  We couldn't do it without you: Cathy and Ron Keil, Randy Honerlah, Garry Drake, Don Jassowski, Phil Lachapelle, Rob Vernon, Gloria Vernon, Ron Hall and Bruce Gruenzel.

Mountain Mail  did a great job again this year, receiving shipped artwork.  They are wonderful to work with.  Phil Lachapelle worked with Dave Macado to get our message up on the Marquee on Main Street.

Thank you to Marilyn Jassowski and Kaaren Poole who did double duty in two areas - they coordinated the Opening Reception and the two of them managed the Mini-workshops as well.  Betty Sederquist and her trio provided lovely background music during our opening with her harp, guitars and more.

Valerie Bye coordinated the binders of Accepted work and title cards to keep the entries in good order.
Helping with  the many tasks that came along we appreciate Sherry Morris, Carlene Fulton, Donna McPherson, Roberta Bassford, Carolyn Lewis and Lorraine Anderson. Thanks to everyone who took a three-hour shift to staff the welcome table in the foyer, some people did more than two shifts they had such a good time!

Thanks to everyone again.  It has been a fun 5  years being Show chairman.
Lucia Rothgeb

PAA's 50th National Mother Lode Show was a great success! Many thanks to all the volunteers that make this show possible! It cannot be done without you! Huge thanks to Lucia Rothgeb! This was Lucia's fifth year chairing our Mother Lode Show. She has done a wonderful job each year. She particularly made our 50th show an event to make all of our members very proud. Great job, Lucia!
Without volunteers, we cannot perform the vital functions of PAA. I want to thank all of our current volunteers for their dedication and generous support of PAA activities. We are now looking for volunteers for the following positions. Please contact me, if you think you can help PAA out with any of these tasks, or even a small part of any task.
  • Chairperson, 2017 Mother Lode Show. This is an exciting volunteer opportunity to pull together a national art show.  If chairing the show is more than you want to take on, we need several people to lead committees that handle various aspects of the show. If you have some time and want to work with some great people, consider joining the 2017 Mother Lode Show team.
  • Program Chair. The Program Chair finds demonstrators for PAA's monthly meetings. Many thanks to Phil Lachapelle for performing this task for the past two years! Phil has already scheduled demonstrators through 2016. We need someone to locate demonstrators starting with the January 2017 meeting.
  • Treasurer. Knowledge of Quickbooks preferred. Many thanks to Nancy Bedeger for performing this vital function for PAA.
  • 2016 PAA Christmas Party Chair. The date for the 2016 party is December 4th at the Cameron Park Country Club. We still need someone to plan food and a program.
There will certainly be guidance and advice for anyone willing to take on these critical positions. Thanks for considering these opportunities. We can't continue to offer these wonderful programs without you.
As a reminder, PAA's 2016 Artists Studio Tour is coming up the first two weekends in October. Come out and support our PAA members on the tour.
Hope to see you at our September 18th meeting!
Linda Heath Clark
