Dear PACC Members,
The trek through winter continues and spring is getting closer by the day. The recent Covid spike continues to be a challenge to the PACC Board as we plan for upcoming activities in 2022 but we remain flexible as we all have had to be with our businesses.
The Windridge Winery on Route 28 will be our featured guest at the February 3rd Business Helping Business Grow event to be held via Zoom at 8 am. The zoom link is provided at the end of newsletter so please click on and join in.
The Board has announced the PACC Annual Meeting will return to a live event but will also be available to view via PACC Facebook Live stream. The Annual Meeting will be Thursday, February 24th at 7 pm at Poolesville Town Hall and we are asking participants to wear masks in keeping with current County policy. The PACC will be presenting the 2021 PACC Community Service Award to Dr. Amar Duggirala of Poolesville Family Practice for his outstanding work during the pandemic to secure vaccines quickly and make them available to the Community at large and in particular, to higher risk individuals.
At the Annual Meeting, the PACC will also present cash donations to various non-profit organizations from net proceeds from the 2021 Poolesville 5K Race/Walk. This year’s recipients are:
Community Farm Share, WUMCO Help Inc, Poolesville Area Seniors, Madison House Autism Foundation, and Shine on Together (local Autism support group). In addition, we will be funding a $500 college scholarship to a graduating senior this spring, continuing a long standing tradition of supporting local education. The Chamber also supported the PHS Track and Cross Country team this past fall for large participation in the Race. The Chamber also distributed $3,000 to the Monocacy Lions Club, our race co-sponsor to support their public outreach efforts. Thank you to our race participants and PACC sponsors who make it possible to continue the PACC’s long tradition of supporting local organizations.
I am excited to invite Chamber members to our next PACC Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the opening of our newest business in the area, Potomac River Supply. The Ribbon Cutting will take place Saturday, February 26th at 11 am at their store located at 19936 Fisher Ave. We plan to have some additional ribbon cuttings so stay tuned.
Work is underway to publish the 2022/23 PACC Community and Business Directory which will come out in Spring 2022. The Directory goes to over 5000 residents and businesses in our area and the advertising revenue is a major source of funding for the PACC now in its 43rd year of supporting our local businesses and community. Please consider advertising your business by going to poolesvillechamber.com before February 28, 2022.
Regards,
Tom Kettler
PACC President
