Dear PACC Members,
The Chamber finished up February with a Ribbon Cutting last Saturday at Poolesville’s latest addition to the business community, Potomac River Supply, located in the Calleva building on Fisher Ave. The Chamber is pleased to announce the next Ribbon Cutting is scheduled for Friday, March 18 at 4 pm at Heather Soskin Photography, located at 20005 Fisher Ave. Suite B (the previous location of Poolesville Vision who recently moved their business into a new space on West Willard). Come join in as we welcome the next addition to our PACC business community.
The PACC Board is continuing work on the 2022/23 Community and Business Directory to be published this spring. Thanks to all the members who have purchased advertising space so far which makes the Directory possible and helps fund PACC’s operation. The Board announced we have extended the Advertising deadline to March 21, 2022 so you still have time to purchase an ad but time is growing short- Don’t Delay! Sign up at poolesvillechamber.com.
Businesses Helping Business Grow will hold its next meeting via Zoom on March 3 at 8 am. This month’s guest speaker will be Charlotte Boucher with the Upcounty Prevention Network (UPN) and she will talk about their work with the youth in our community.
The PACC will be continuing it’s long standing tradition of awarding a College scholarship to a graduating high school senior from the area. Check our website in near future or at PHS for details of how to apply. We are exploring a new application format so encourage seniors to apply.
Congratulations to Dr. Amar Duggirala who accepted the PACC 2021 Community Service Award at our Annual Meeting held last week at Poolesville Town Hall. This is the 20th year the Award has been presented and you can see the list of past winners below.
Dr. Duggirala was recognized for his work during the Pandemic in establishing a Clinic in Poolesville for vaccines and testing which was especially helpful to higher risk members of our community in the Western Montgomery County area. We would also like to thank K2 Cafe, located at 17610 W. Willard Road, Poolesville, for providing a variety of desserts for the meeting.
The Chamber also recognized and thanked Woody Hilton with Hilton Funeral Home for his 6 year service on the Board of Directors as he officially completed his term at the Annual meeting. We figure Hilton Funeral Home is our “legacy” Chamber member having been in business in Barnesville since the late 1800’s. The Chamber is looking for new Board members so please contact me or Cathy Bupp if interested.
Keep an eye on the PACC website for upcoming events and we plan to restart our social/ networking Happy hour events in April.
Regards,
Tom Kettler
PACC President
