Dearest PACE Division Member

I hope you were able to get in a summer vacation and are staying cool as we transition into the fall season. I feel like the summer has flown by and once again we find ourselves at the beginning of a new school year. I would like to confidently say a barrier-free opening to an exciting new school year.

 

I would like an opportunity to debrief all of our members on the work that has been taking place in the PACE Division over the summer months.

 

PACE Vice-President Elections Under Way

As many of you are aware, 2022 is the year for the PACE Division to nominate and elect our Vice President-elect. In order to execute the nominating process a nominating committee, consisting of representatives from each division was formed at the end of May:

A special thank you to Dr. Janet Burns who assisted our committee with developing a voting rubric. An additional extended thank you to Mark Wilson and Dr. Kermelle Hensley who coordinated interviews and developed our scoring process.

 

At the current time, all nominees have been interviewed, and the election slate has been submitted to ACTE. Selected PACE candidates will be announced in the upcoming weeks, and voting will begin at Vision 2022.

In May, the VISION Planning Committee was formed and began working immediately on developing activities, promotions and sponsorship for VISION 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Elvis Welcomes PACE to VISION 2022 in Bright and Beautiful Las Vegas


One of the beginning actions from the PACE VISION 2022 Planning Committee was the creation of this year's video inviting all PACE members to attend VISION in Las Vegas.

Whether in person or virtually, I hope you are as excited as I am to attend ACTE’s CareerTech VISION 2022. ACTE has a wonderful program planned with a combination of live sessions, recorded sessions, and many opportunities to network with colleagues. Look for details and a registration link on the following page of this newsletter.

 

Our PACE VISION Committee has just embarked on reviewing submitted proposals to bring you high-quality sessions that are focused on postsecondary education. As we develop the content for these sessions, we will keep you up to date with periodic email blasts.

 

The opportunity for in-person attendance at VISION will provide us with the platform for a PACE reception this year. You will receive a special invitation sent to your email account after you register. Do not miss out on the special evening at the PACE reception, we will be excited to see you there.

An e-blast message that was sent out in May 2022 shared that All PACE members who had pre-registered will be entered into a drawing for $25 dollar Amazon gift cards (we have 10 to give away).

PACE Division Awards


ACTE PACE is thrilled to announce we have moved the application process to the ACTE Portal for the first time this year. PACE is conducting a statewide division search for excellence in CTE to highlight outstanding educators as part of our awards program. We are seeking nominations from the following awards this year:

 

  • 2022 PACE Award of Excellence
  • 2022 PACE Innovation Award
  • 2022 PACE Outstanding Training Activity Award
  • 2022 PACE Economic Development Award
  • 2022 PACE Ambassador of the Year Award
  • 2022 PACE Diversity and Inclusion Award

 

Deserving candidates for these awards have demonstrated their commitment to CTE through their innovation, accomplishments, and contributions to the PACE CTE community. We are accepting nominations until Sept. 30. Award recipients will then be judged and winners will be announced at the PACE Division meeting at VISION 2022. POSTSECONDARY CTE EVENT


Our postsecondary convening is right around the corner (October 6-7)! Information on our wonderful panelists and moderators are on the site. A learning community in CTE Learn (careeredlounge) is being created where we will share materials and have discussions around these critical issues before, during, and after the convening. This online space will only be available to registrants. So, make sure you register as soon as possible! Join us for an unforgettable experience in Myrtle Beach SC!

 

Join postsecondary CTE professionals from across the nation to tackle four critical issues:


  • Expanding Career Pathways
  • Building Apprenticeships
  • Closing Access & Equity Gaps
  • Supporting Faculty Recruitment & Retention

 

The Convening will feature expert panel presentations, engaging professional development sessions, and numerous networking/working sessions. Participants will engage in discussions about the best practices in these four key areas and you will draft a plan to impact your institution. This solution-driven event is unlike any event you have ever attended!

 

Don’t forget to also register for the pre-Convening special event. We have arranged a tour and dinner at the International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach at Horry-Georgetown Technical College. You will receive a four-course meal prepared by their very own students! This event will be an intimate gathering with your peers. PACE Re-ignite Meetings Reconvening Fall 2022


Please join us in fall of 2022 for the first installment of our third PACE Re-ignite Series. These programs come to you bimonthly and will feature guest speakers and national updates that impact postsecondary education. This coming year, we will also be showcasing postsecondary programs and projects from across the United States. All members and non-members are welcome to join us for these upcoming meetings.

ACTE is pleased to announce that the Iowa Association for Career and Technical Education (Iowa ACTE) has formally unified with the national Association. Spearheaded by the Iowa ACTE Board of Directors and Iowa ACTE Executive Director Sandy Miller, the state association is now officially unified with the national body.

Introducing ACTE’s New Work-Based Learning Division


The new Work-based Learning Division provides ACTE members with valuable resources and opportunities for professional development, leadership and networking as we help students build awareness of potential careers, explore career opportunities and prepare for their future. This new Division includes a diverse group of professionals including work-based learning and apprenticeship coordinators, K–12 and postsecondary educators, business and community partners, program administrators, and state workforce representatives. ACTE members have the opportunity to choose from among 11 Divisions in ACTE and join a community of professionals with shared CTE interests.
