MESSAGE FROM PAM

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a great long weekend!

Once we hit that Veteran's Day holiday, the rest of the holidays seem to come at us quickly. First up is our Thanksgiving distribution coming up over the next week (November 16th to 22nd). It is being done a little differently than in past years, with the participants at the pantry getting their Thanksgiving basket at their regular pickup time. While we are doing it that way, the folks at the Food Center would welcome some extra hands during the pick-up days.

If you are interested in helping out you can contact Emma, Brooke, or Maggie at the Food Center and they will note when you can come and give you more details. Emma is emmamelo@paceinfo.org, Brooke is Brooke@paceinfo.org, and Maggie is Mgralton@paceinfo.org.

And as soon as that is done, we will be doing it all again for the Christmas holiday season. We are currently working on the process for that and will be in touch about how that is going to work. We will be looking for elves willing to help pack up packages and give them out. You can also let them know that you are interested in that if you reach out for Thanksgiving.

Thank you for all that you do to help our community!! You make a difference every day and I appreciate all that you give to the people we serve!!

Bright Spots

Today's Bright Spot is from PACE Head Start/ Madison Street.

Today's nominee is Kelly Galinha, Head Start custodian.

"Kelly has been employed at PACE Head Start for many years. She decided to leave her classroom teacher position and accept the maintenance position at our Madison Street location. Kelly is, always, eager to assist when called upon to help others. She can be seen, merrily, completing her daily chores and greeting our staff and children. Visitors to our building comment on the cleanliness of our site and the fresh, friendly aroma of cleaning products. Kelly's dedication to the Head Start Program is apparent in everything that she does; Always ready to work and always the team player!"

People like Kelly are what PACE Head Start is all about!!

PACE in the News

PACE has been working with local agencies and other nonprofits to help the influx of migrant families that have come to our area. Dartmouth Week.com reported on this effort on Nov 7, 2023

People Acting in Community Endeavors, or PACE, in New Bedford, is helping the families get on state insurance plans through Health Connector, said Executive Director Pam Kuechler. The group also started connecting families to PACE’s Community Food Center to start supplying some extra food beyond the daily meals provided at hotels.

“PACE provides for a variety of basic needs services, and so essentially, we’re just bringing those services into the hotel to get people set up, so they can move on past just going from place to place,” Kuechler said.
