Gene Barr, President and CEO

As of Nov. 30, the 2019-20 legislative session officially came to an end.  During this unprecedented year and since the early days of the governor's COVID-19 disaster declaration, the PA Chamber, along with our partners in the business community, prioritized getting targeted and temporary safe harbor protections in place for businesses that are following the state and CDC-issued guidelines to keep our communities healthy and get our economy up and running again

GROW PA UPDATES
Grow PA The Future of Transportation
Grow PA needs your input. On November 18th, the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry hosted a Grow PA gathering to discuss the state of transportation infrastructure in our region and Commonwealth. We heard from experts at Penn State's Larson Transportation Institute about the future of transportation research, new modes of transportation, and new pricing models for funding transportation. Your voice in this important conversation is needed.

PACP MEMBER UPDATES
African American Chamber of Western PA
The Chamber will hold its Annual Business Meeting on December 3 with Roy Harvey, President & CEO of Alcoa Corporation, as the featured speaker.

The Chamber will host a Business Continuation Webinar on December 16 with Orlando Houston and Ken Clifton with Equitable Advisors.

Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber
The ChamberGreater Wyoming Valley recently announced their new logo and brand at their virtual Annual Dinner.  The Chamber's new name will be the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Schuylkill Chamber
On Tuesday, November 17, President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to nominate and appoint Robert S. Carl, Jr., president and CEO of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, to his Administration as a Member of the President's Export Council.

The Chamber launched Let's Keep the Cheer Here for the first time this year. The intention of this program is to encourage residents to shop safely and locally with Schuylkill County businesses and nonprofits this holiday season. Participating members are offering a month-long deal that started on Monday, November 9 and will run through Sunday, December 6. Each participating business also offers one deal of the day. A community Facebook group has been created. The intention of the group is for businesses and nonprofits to use it as a platform to promote their small businesses and nonprofits this holiday season. We are encouraging all small businesses and nonprofits to post in this group to help with community outreach efforts.  Within the group, we then promote the businesses offering month-long deals and their deal of the day.

TriCounty Area Chamber
The Chamber started the Shop TriCounty Initiative to promote local small businesses and encourage shopping small, especially during the holiday season. We created a special Facebook group where local small businesses and restaurants are encouraged to post about themselves and share any special promotions they are offering, and are inviting the community to join the group so they can know where to shop and dine locally. The group is open to all tri-county businesses and is not limited to TCACC Members, but Members will have their information included in weekly dedicated email that is sent to the entire TCACC Membership, giving them additional exposure.

West Shore Chamber
On Friday, November 6th, the Chamber presented the Chamber nonprofit recipients of this year's events with checks for donation. We were happy to be able to support our nonprofit members with donations especially during this year when community individuals, businesses and nonprofits are struggling.

York County Economic Alliance
Each year, the YCEA invites our community to join us in celebrating the holiday season at our annual "Light Up Our Lot" tree lighting. While the pandemic may have affected our ability to gather in person this year, the holiday spirit is alive and well throughout YoCo!  We are calling on all YoCo businesses, residents, municipalities and non-profit organizations to light up YOUR lot and share it with us! Photos or short videos of your decorated home or business will be compiled into a unique holiday video for everyone to enjoy! The video will premiere on the YCEA YouTube Channel on December 18 at 6 p.m.

The YCEA is proud to announce a new initiative within the YoCo Bloom grant program - a Start Up grant. The YoCo Bloom Start Up grant will award up to $2,500 to businesses that have launched within the past 18 months and have not received funding from prior YoCo Bloom, Downtown Bloom, or COVID 19 funding programs. Businesses with fewer than 5 full-time-equivalent employees, and are located in York County, are eligible.
