The growing skills gap in the Commonwealth is an issue that we often hear about from our members and one that I've previously written about in this column.  In fact, the difficulty that employers have finding qualified candidates to fill open positions has become such as concern that the PA Chamber has made workforce development a key initiative as we enter into our second century of operation.

Matt Beltz Columbia Montour Chamber 
Matt Beltz joined the staff of the Chamber in early April as Director of Marketing and Communications. He comes to the Chamber with experience in writing, public relations, and marketing at organizations including Bucknell University and Geisinger Health System. Lebanon Valley Chamber 
The Chamber is pleased to announce that Karen Groh was unanimously voted to become President/CEO, effective immediately. Karen stepped in as interim President/CEO in mid-December 2016. 
Main Line Chamber 
The Chamber will be honored on May 8 with a Marketing Leadership Award from the Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association. The award is among seven honors that will be awarded by GVF at its 2017 Leadership Awards as part of the 27th Annual Meeting.
Perry County Chamber 
The Chamber has named Becky Kephart as the organization's new Director.
Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber 
This past April the Chamber hosted U.S. Congressman Tim Murphy and Pennsylvania State Representative Mark Mustio for a Breakfast Briefing to discuss what's happening in Harrisburg and Washington D.C. This month we are hosting our first breakfast briefing of our 3-part series, "The Nexus of Energy to Opportunity and Jobs." On May 19, 2017 we will hear from many guest speakers including, Christopher Guith ( U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for 21 st  Century Energy) , Stephanie J. Catarino Wissman (Associated Petroleum Industries of PA), Katie Klaber (The Klaber Group), and finally Lou Gilberti (Keystone Mountain Lakes Regional Council of Carpenters). Our guest speakers will discuss "Where Are We Now in Energy?" followed by an open Q&A session. For more information please visit our website at www.paacc.com/events.
