This newsletter is being sent ONLY to RMs and to OHs.
1st, we begin by telling you how we wrote to the Ministry of Government Relations (Advisory Services Branch) and were pleasantly surprised to also receive a reply from the Policy and Program Services Branch. The letter was from Andrea Ulrich, the DIRECTOR OF LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS in that branch. Here is what she wrote on August 16, 2022: "We are preparing amendments to the Municipalities Regulations regarding organized hamlets and will be consulting this fall. Would it be possible to do a session at the upcoming PARCS conference? I know this topic has been of interest to your members in the past, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to introduce proposed changes, answer questions, and get feedback".
2nd, we replied to Andrea telling her that the convention had been changed to a virtual format (meaning that there would be no limit to the number of delegates who could register and no cost for their attendance). We told her that we would very much welcome her participation.
3rd, we received Andrea's confirmation that she would attend and would speak about "proposed amendments to Municipal regulations regarding organized hamlets which have not been updated for 17 years". She spoke about "clarifying roles and responsibilities between the organized hamlet board and the RM council so that everyone knows who is responsible for what, and will know their obligations".
Finally, therefore, I am sending this final reminder about this third session of our convention. Although, that session is only scheduled for 1 hour, we have already verified that this session can go overtime, depending on the number of questions or comments from the participants. This newsletter is going out to the 23 RMs and 59 organized hamlets on our mailing list.
We encourage you to ADVANCE REGISTER for this third session of our convention (and also for either of the other two sessions, if they interest you - see below).
