Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:
Our Christmas Season concludes this Sunday with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.
For those who were present, thank you for celebrating with us at our masses. It was great to see so many reconnecting with the parish and friends and family members reconnecting.
I want to take a moment to say thank all that who helped make our celebration of Christmas so prayerful, welcoming, and beautiful.
To our Director of Music, Dr. Jeong-A Yum, and to the members of the Schola Cantorum and the Caritas Choir: our organist, James Casey, and Adam Jones, our evening choir director. Their music did more than enhance our liturgies—it helped carry the Good News into our hearts. The care, time, and love they bring to our community were felt deeply, and I am very grateful.
Many others contributed so much. I am also sincerely thankful to our Director of Liturgy, Lisa Wellick, to Jennifer Kozakowski and her altar server team, lectors and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion. Their quiet preparation, reverence, and faithfulness made it possible for our community to worship with focus and peace. The same is true of our ushers, whose warmth and attentiveness set the tone of welcome from the moment people arrived -- and Tess Thompson, our livestream producer.
Our gratitude also goes to our staff who spent many hours preparing behind the scenes, especially Manual Pacheco and his maintenance team and Fintan Hiney, our Marketing and Communications Director.
Christmas places real demands on all of our ministers and so I want to thank their families and friends for supporting their service and sacrifice of time, energy, and presence of their loved ones.
All of our ministers made the celebration of the mystery of Christ’s birth reverent and joyful, a salve in our troubled times.
Pope Leo in his Christmas homilies challenged us all: "If people refuse to make room for others — like the poor, children and the stranger — then they also refuse to make room for God." He concluded by noting, 'Where there is room for the human person, there is room for God,'
If you were away for the holidays, we hope that you had special times with family and friends.
Thank you for your generous support of our parish. There is still time to participate in our Christmas Appeal. You may make your gift online at www.sp-apostle.org. We are deeply grateful we are for your kindness and commitment to our parish community.
May God abundantly bless you and may the peace and joy of Christ remain with you throughout the New Year!
Father Gil
