This week our articles, papers and reports includes an editorial published by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). In this editorial, professionals in the field are urged to accept abstinence, nonabstinence or partial abstinence as legitimate goals for recovery. Based on data from the National Household Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), the author found that those in abstinent and nonabstinent recovery did not differ in terms of employment, involvement in the criminal justice system involvement, psychological distress or self-reported health.
