Registration is open for PASCD's 67th Annual Conference, " Sparking Innovation: Personalized Learning, STEM, 4C's" is now open.

  

This year's conference will begin on Sunday, November 12th and end on Monday, November 13th. There will also be a free pre-conference on Saturday, November 11th.

Session Title: Students at the Center: Personalized Learning with Habits of Mind 

Description: In this keynote, Bena will define and describe personalized learning as a simple and powerful frame that allows students to thoughtfully engage with inquiry, generate ideas, and develop challenging yet achievable performance opportunities.  She will demonstrate the importance for students to develop the Habits of Mind, a set of dispositions that are necessary for student to be more self-directed as they manage their own learning.  There will be many examples of how this works.

Session Title: STEMulating Minds

Description: What do you want your students to be able to do? Get a job. Buy a house. Know stuff. Is this different than what your students expect? Living in a time where information is abundant and creative ideas have real value, what do our students want to be able to do? Start a company and create their own job. Design an energy-efficient home. Know everything they possibly can that interests them. How do we help get them there? Starting with STEM (or STEAM) as a project-based, inquiry-driven framework, we'll look at the ways we can design our instructional practices to help facilitate and STEMulate our students' minds.

Session Title: PDE's New STEM Initiative and Curriculum Framework

Description: Judd Pittman, Special Consultant to the Secretary of Education for STEM, will share information about the Pennsylvania Department of Education's new STEM Initiative and Curriculum Framework.
