Spring 2022 COPAS National Meeting
| |
You are invited to join us to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of COPAS. Our event will be held the week of April 25, 2022, at the San Luis Resort, Spa and Conference Center in Galveston, Texas. The event will kick off on Monday with the Board of Directors meeting. On Tuesday we are offering extra CE’s in the morning followed by the Leadership meeting in the afternoon. Anyone is welcome to attend the Leadership meeting. Wednesday morning kicks off the committee meetings. On Wednesday afternoon we are offering extra CE’s along with golf and tours. Wednesday evening will be our reception. Thursday continues all day with committee meetings. Thursday evening will be our banquet at Moody Gardens. Friday morning will wrap up the event with the General Council Meeting.
The COPAS conference provides each society and member companies the opportunity to come together to examine and review existing documents and to discuss the need for new documents to set standard for the oil and gas industry. Each member company gets a vote on these documents, and any attendee can discuss their experiences, trials, and tribulations in how these documents would affect their jobs. Your company can have a say in shaping and implementing these guidelines.
The best parts of the meeting as Education, Networking, and Problem Solving is what you get when you attend.
The conference offers standing committees in revenue, joint interest, audit, education, and small companies. An attendee has an opportunity to attend these committee meetings and network with people who share their same job responsibilities and challenges. The educational opportunities of attending also include receiving CE credits for many of the presentations.
A new Accounting Procedure is expected to be voted on in the Joint Interest, Audit and Revenue committee meetings. This procedure has been worked on by many in our industry over the last couple of years. Attend the meeting to get your voice heard.
COPAS is the organization that provides the industry expertise in developing the documents used by the oil and gas industry and companies look to COPAS for that authority. The creation and review of these documents offer tremendous overview for the attendees. Most individuals work in specific areas and don’t see the overall picture of what they do and how it affects other processes. By attending the conference, you are exposed to the details of how the documents used are created in the different committees like revenue and joint interest. In Audit, you can learn about what the issues are in audit procedures. In the Emerging Issues presentations, you can learn about what are the current issues facing our industry in today’s world. If you work for a small company, the Small Companies Committee gives you an opportunity to speak and listen to others in their similar situations. All this information provides attendees with a better understanding of how their jobs fit into the overall picture.
There are plenty of opportunities to network. Meet others in the committee meetings, hospitality suite, golfing, tours, or evening events. Golf will be held at the Moody Gardens Golf Course on the island. Our tours will include the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig & Museum, Texas Seaport Museum & Tall Ship Elissa and the Historic Harbor Tour & Dolphin Watch. On Wednesday evening we will have planned a reception at the hotel with light hors d-oeuvres. On Thursday evening we will hold the banquet at Moody Gardens on the island.
